Subject: King Crimson Albums You Own
Date Posted: January 02 2014 at 06:06
Hi, just out of curiosity to see which is most popular, which of these King Crimson albums do you own? Multiple votes are allowed so vote for all of the one's you have, and don't start if you know you'll just give up half way through voting (as it may take a couple of minutes). Feel free to comment about the albums as well
I personally own 7/16 (The first 8, excluding SABB)
Thanks for any feedback!

Fourteen out of sixteen; all but Project X and A Scarcity of Miracles. I also have a lot of the live releases. About 30 or so in all.

I mainly lack the 80's albums, Starless and Bible Black, Thrack, and the Projekts... though I believe I have those albums well covered with songs from live albums. Still, I expect to get at least a few of those albums at some point.

The first seven albums.
I also have Absent Lovers, both Giles, Giles and Fripp albums (Cheerful Insanity and Brondesbury Tapes) and McDonald And Giles. I'm probably gonna try to get Exposure next.

I don't own the 4 titles between THRAK and SCARCITY OF MIRACLES. I have heard CONSTRUKCTION but didn't get in to it.

Of actual KC albums, missing only The Power To Believe (will remedy at some point!). Don't have either ProjeKct or Scarcity.

Is this one any good?
A very good album, but not one of their best IMO. Doesn't really have the same sound as King Crimson - as "Ian" said, like a Jakko Jakszyk solo album

I've got everything except for Space Groove ---> The Power to Believe. I am also unfortunately missing Starless and Bible Black. Amazon has not had it in stock over the last year, the special anniversary edition that is.

I bought the only album I could find in the stores;
The Condensed 21st Century Guide to King Crimson 1969-1974
It's kind of their bests, but I'm still looking for their first album.

In the court-7/10(A couple of strong tracks but fairly dated. Compositions a bit raw. Overdose of mellotron)
In the wake-8.5/10(Strong compositions. Good variety or style)
Lizard-8/10(Similar to previous album but Haskells voice doesn't suit this music at all)
Larks-7.5/10(Some strong moments, some filler. Slower compositions the best. I only like Wettons voice on slower tracks)
Red-7.5/10(Heavier tracks better than previous album, but less slower tracks)
Starless-6/10(A couple of good tracks, bit disappointing otherwise)
Discipline-7.5/10(Solid album)
Three of a-8/10(Pretty good apart from that crap Sleepless song)
They produced their best melodies around 1970-71. Then they replaced the whole band pretty much. I like the slower stuff from the Wetton era mainly but it was a shame they split up around 1971. A few more years of Giles, Giles, Lake, Sinfield, Collins, Fripp may have seen Crimson as one of my fave 70s bands. But as it stands they are probably not even top 20 or the 70s. But their early 80s was pretty good. So overall they are around top 15 bands looking at the whole career
------------- All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

I sampled it on you tube and it seemed a little boring...I'll give it another try since I'm a big KC fan.
