I can't decide on a subgenre, but Crossover seems most likely. Though I could possibly see Symph or Neo.
In any case, this father/son band just released their second album. I thought for sure they were already here, but it seems not!
http://www.proggnosis.com/ARTIST_DETAIL.aspx?AID=11009" rel="nofollow - prognossis.com has this as their bio:
"From Linköping, Sweden, Lost Kite
is an alternative/progressive music project between Carlsson family
members Stefan (father) and David (son). Stefan, who was 60 years old
at the time of this collaboration, and his son David, 25 years old,
share an interest for music and "especially 70's prog-era" music.
Stefan has been a member of the swedish act Kultivator."
The music is mostly instrumental, though there is occasional singing. Pretty mellow; lots of acoustic guitar. I would really compare it with anyone in particular; well, maybe early Genesis for some of the acoustic sound. Drums/percussion is quite minimal.
Albums are:

(click album titles for their bandcamp pages)
http://lostkite.bandcamp.com/album/lost-kite" rel="nofollow - Lost Kite 1. A Walk (13:19) 2. Sails Across The Sky (9:32) 3. The Hoopoe's Call (4:31) 4. With Eyes Wide Open (15:31)
David Carlsson - Acoustic 12-string Guitar, Electric 12-string Guitar on track 3, Spanish Guitar and Voice Stefan Carlsson - Electric & Acoustic 6-string Guitar, Bass Guitar, Guitar synthesizer, Electronic drums
http://lostkite.bandcamp.com/album/two" rel="nofollow - two 1. Broken (6:23) 2. Organic (8:14) 3. Forgotten Garden (2:58) 4. Lullaby For the Sleepless (2:38) 5. Moons (6:06) 6. Singed Thoughts (2:06) 7. The Girl From the Moor (11:07) 8. Ascend (6:12)
Stefan Carlsson - Electric 6-string guitar, spanish guitar, bass, flute, synth, vocals and electronic drums David Carlsson - Acoustic 6 & 12-string guitar, spanish guitar, vocals and electric 12-string guitar
Should be a no-brainer for addition, assuming a subgenre can be agreed upon.

Yeah, I too am uncertain about which sub this music might best be a fit for. The project undoubtedly belongs on the site, as you have already said, but which team should have the first shot at evaluating it? I don't really consider this music as Crossover Prog to be honest - it seems a shade too complex to my ears, and I think it deserves a place in one of the 'true prog' sub genres. I don't hear much of it as Neo Prog either - a couple of songs maybe, but certainly not a large enough percentage of the total output of the band to make them a likely candidate for inclusion in that sub. Which I guess only leaves Symphonic as an option, though I'm not totally convinced about this either - a lot of the music is simply too laid back and acoustic in nature to be considered as Symphonic Prog. Perhaps if no other collabs drop by with some ideas on how to proceed with this suggestion we should ask Iván to listen to the two albums anyway - if they are not Suitable for inclusion in Symphonic in his opinion, then he will almost certainly suggest an alternative team to send the suggestion to, and it can hopefully be taken from there. A difficult one indeed...

Well this hasn't been followed up as I had hoped, and it's more than a fortnight old now, so I'm bumping the thread in the hope that some of our more learned bretheren might add their thoughts here regarding the sub they feel it might best slot into, and the team we might send it to for initial evaluation.

Hm, very curious case. This is "too" prog for crossover and there's not enough pop/prog crossovers going on for them to qualify. I'm thinking the symphonic/heavy/crossover/jazz/folk mixture would best be suited for eclectic, which is where I will bring these guys.

Haha, works for me! (Not sure I hear the "heavy", though. Guess I will have to give the new one another listen soon!)

What happened to this suggestion, this is a very good cd, it seems to fit to the Symphonic genre.

Well you could always ask the eclectic team, as you yourself have access to that part of the forum

If anyone with access to the CZ feels like having a peek in Eclectic team's thread, I'd be interested to know how the voting is going (as I guess would several other members who follow this particular part of the forum.... )

It doesn't look as though Lost Kite made it onto the Eclectic Teams charts. I bumped the post in their thread to bring it to their attention.

I gave them the final yes a few weeks ago so they are cleared for addition, it will take some time now since we have a lot of bands to add and many on the chart.
