Just a quick question, what's your favourite lowest PA rated album by the big 6 prog rock bands? Personally, mine is Invisible Touch, followed by Beat and Open Your Eyes Smile Thoughts?

Hmmm...I only own the first 2 but have heard all of them......I'll go with Floyd since there are several songs on there I do like.

first two albums in the poll are not bad at all

AMLOR gets my vote, I just listen to it more.

Like the first three--especially Beat--but also Invisible Touch and Floyd ---not into bottom 3--as a Yes fanatic don't consider OYE a Yes album---

AMLoR, closely followed by Beat and Invisible Touch. None are really bad IMO, just now up to what we expect from theses great acts.

King Crimson beats out the others here.

i find A Momentary Lapse of Reason to be a much more satisfying album than u would expect, however, it is one of my least favorite PF albums, but not like TFC or the soundtracks. Also, i find very funny that people think that In the Hot Seat is worse than Love Beach (if u know what i mean)! On another note, just in general, what album has the lowest rating on this site (including all the bands old and new on here and excluding non-reviewed or few-reviewed ones)?

Invisible Touch, though not one of my favorite albums, is a solid album.

Smile Well you have to consider it a Yes album, because it was!!! Fanatic or notTongue

I am surprised Beat is so low in ratings, great 80's Crimson

AMLOR got my vote

"On The Turning Away" is one of my favourite Floyd songs, even though that album is rather average, I prefer it to a lot of their stuff, so that gets my vote. Although to be honest, I haven't really heard the others that much.

I really like A Momentary Lapse - not their best, but good.

The rest are pretty awful.

Genesis, Pink Floyd and King Crimson are all excellent albums ! I chose KC but it could have been PF too.

I still don't understand the hate for Beat. It's a solid 4 stars for me!!

A Momentary Lapse of Reason and Invisible Touch are about equally underrated. Voted for Floyd here, because its low points are still way above those of Genesis on these two albums.

My two favorites from the list are IT and AMLOR. I like beat next and then OYE. I don't know the other two at all.

The 80's is my least fave Crimso era and Beat is my least fave album of my least fave Crimson era featuring Belew who is my least fave Crimso member on my least fave Crimso album of my least fave Crimso era.  I am a proud non-owner of Beat LOL

I love Under Wraps despite the overcooked 80s production.  Some great songs, some cool and unusual vibes running through it.  And it came with a cool stage production.

Martin Barre apparently loves it too, so I'm not all alone!  LOL

"It's one of my personal favourite Tull albums, even though now I can see that maybe it wasn't the right thing for us to do.  We were making music to please ourselves, which is maybe a bit selfish. Music should be for everybody not just for an elite bunch of people. Having said that though, nowadays it is one of the few Tull albums that I play to enjoy rather than for reference. Funnily enough, 'A' is the other one that I think sounds really good. But Under Wraps is a great album."

For me, at least when it comes to this poll, Beat cannot be beat.  It was never a Pink Floyd favourite, but I used to like the Pink Floyd one -- last I heard it I found it rather dreadfully dull.

2.96?!? Anyone who wishes to denigrate "Beat" can bloody well say it to my face, and then pick his (literally) bloody teeth up off the floor. 2.96 my bloody arse!

Thought Beat is an excellent album. Not necessarily agreeing with Belew's lyrical stance at times (my privilege) but those guitars alone make a good listen.

Momentary Lapse was always fine. I wonder if the anti-change stance is a a certain reactionary unwillingness to accept change in favourite pop groups? (The very word progressive implies change and many people are not that keen on change and that seems to include many progressive rock fans).

On The Turning Away was impressive live, a huge vocal performance on a PF stage definitely something different. But that's being progressive for ya.

Now... to vote...

Genesis and Floyd were in heavy rotation in my stereo back when they came out. Although a hard-core Genesis fan, my vote goes to Floyd for this one.

I do like that Floyd album, but if I want to listen to those songs, then I'll most likely pop on Pelican Lounge of Yonder.

Beat for me for Neil & Jack & Me, Santari in Tangiers, Neurotica & The Howler. Not top 10 Crimbo but certainly worthy of the name.

Beat is the only one of these I really like.  The Floyd one is pretty good too, but I do find it quite dull.  The others are, well, not to mince words, bad.... (at least for me as I recall).
