Looking back at the Canterbury Scene, I see that a lot of the debut albums were actually most of my favourites but I want to see what everybody's is Big smile
Personally, I can't decide between Caravan, Egg, Soft Machine, and National Health.

Keen to see what you all put! Tongue

Matching Mole is terrific too, especially the first song, 'O Caroline'.

This is difficult.

Hatfield, MM, and National Health all could get my vote.

I'll give it to National Health.  The only one of these (the ones I've heard) I don't much care for is Soft Machine's debut.

As good as most of these albums are, Hatfield's debut wipes its feet on the rest.

Agreed.  Fish Rising was a big disappointment as well.

Fish Rising just over Gong. I'm not a big fan of Canterbury(other than Caravan)so the rest don't do much for me.

Khan for sure, the rest are amazing no doubt. Space Shanty is just a very special album to me.

I don't mind it, but I far prefer the work Hillage did with Gong

Can't vote. Don't know the Canterbury Scene sub-genre well enough yet.

Like some of the others I have to agree this is very difficult but i'm going with Khan probably because it's the one I heard most recently.

If i could vote, i would have chosen the first Egg album Smile, I can't stop listening to it since i just discovered that album, i just hated the last 7 minutes of the track Symphony No. 2 though LOL, the rest of the album is worth listening!

Gotta go with Khan's 'Space Shanty'. Still *the best* album I've ever heard in my life..........

Hatfield, though Khan comes close.
National Health, Egg and Soft Machine have much better second albums than debut albums, IMHO

This was tough!
I did manage to pull myself together and cast a vote, but that's mainly down to me listening to Pisces Ascending last weekend. Had I heard the National Health one, I would probably have voted for that instead.
