Knobs may be wrong, but it seems I started a RETRO-PROG  thread.

I KNOWS I had sumfink going on retro and the response  on this VERY IMPORTANT PROG TOPIC was  abysmal.

Now I cant even find the thread.

Probably secreted to some non-prog discussion cubby here.

Shameful.

The most telling thing is you're an idiot. (and I use that term in the most correct manner known)

Hopefully someday he will learn to talk like normal people too, but I'm afraid that's too much asking for.

I must have missed a lot from Knoobs over the past two days of my near absence.

While I was reading his stuff, a thought crossed my mind: he posts things on our forum, and we react to those things, each reaction is more/less jocular then the next, some mixed with agitation. Sometimes those things come with insults. In my view this just doesn't bode well for the impression this forum (and maybe even the whole site, if I may) makes on the guests who come here or the solo acts/bands, like iamthemorning and others, who want to promote themselves here. Imagine someone reading a whole string of trolly posts here and there and going "I have no business posting here." Naturally, I wouldn't even think about holding admins/mods in contempt for that; after all, they have a rule-book. Nonetheless, what we have here looks like a bad alternate ending for a film ... or, if you will, an alternate continuation. Which reminds me of this Daniel Tosh joke, which I will paraphrase:

"Do you remember 'The Mighty Ducks' ? Remember how in the end they won? But what if we had an alternate ending where they didn't win? What if they lost? Just imagine that moment where they go to the locker room, someone smashes the locker, and they all start #$%^ing off and #$@%ing on each other, and you'd be like 'Wow! Did you see the alternate ending?! I mean, they went in a totally different direction. It was just a little too heavy for the kids.' "

The bottom line is that I don't want us to be those Mighty Ducks, whatever they are. Just a little too heavy for other people.

Send me a PM if you want to get the uncensored version of this post.  I mean, all the stuff that was cut out and such.

In fact, I won't even read the next threads he would open.

This piece is about how trolling and responding to a troll negatively does not make us look good, with or without the jokes we've made.

This is a hilarious bit that I used to compare to our situation with Knoobens ... and other trolls ... if you don't act accordingly.

^ They don't teach Humor in Guildford and St.-Petersburg anymore ... it's all up to America now. But then there are all these tools who tell jokes about drugs, sex, and racism. Which is why I teach Humor 101 here in Reno.

Yeah, I got that bit. We all got the "don't feed the trolls" message, but if that was the whole of Andrey post then he could have simply said "Don't Feed The Troll", so what was the rest about?

[and for the sake of clarity and accuracy I didn't say that I did not know what the  Censoreding point  was, I said I didn't  Censoreding know what the point was - the placement of expletive is important - the point he was making may have been a good one, therefore I would not have called it a " Censoreding point "]

Having never seen "Mighty Ducks" and not knowing the plot, storyline or even what it is about, the little joke was completely lost on me. That's not a cultural difference, that's not a limitation of education, that's simply not knowing what the crap the moral of the anecdotal joke was even supposed to be. Out of context it is meaningless to me.

"Don't feed the troll" isn't enough. I was expanding on what the consequences of such feeding may be like.

Again, this is simply a jocular comparison I've made to our situation with Knoobens - a bad alternate ending that we could have prevented from happening.

It's a movie about a bunch of kids who win a hockey game in the end ... "What if they don't? What if we stuck with the alternate ending?" It's just like that with us. We could have banned Knoobens or gave him a warning, but no, we decided to go with the alternate ending. Some of us were "losing to" a troll, acting on the loss.

Thanks. I knew there was more to your point that "Don't Feed The Troll" that's why I asked for an explanation.

It must be very difficult for Dean right now as our chief enforcer;  he sees a person who seems to know a good deal of prog rock and yet insists on alienating 82.7% of everyone on the forums.   That's gotta be an irritating and frustrating position to be in.

I think the solution will be the simplest--  either Knobs will figure it out and shape-up, be cordial to all and open to different ideas about music, and step back from his "I know more about this stuff than anyone here" attitude, or he'll be warned and any other necessary actions.

I'm sorry to say, but I really didn't learn anything from Sargent knobbery.
I mean I've heard he has the incredible amount of knowledge about prog, but I never saw or heard how that was articulated.

As for Dean. Yeah. I feel bad he has to be put in the position, but we have to slam the gavel down sometimes. I've always felt that PA is a very special place to converse about prog, so we can't have just 'anyone' shooting their mouth off or being a jerk 82.7% of the time.

Knobby NEVER provided a balance. He was always rude and confusing. I know we ALL can be rude and confusing here on PA sometimes, but at least we all have the sense to admit fault sometimes or apologize to one another.
PA is a family and it shouldn't be made up of Knobbies. (god I sound like such an old man now. Lol)
Feeding the troll or not, one still has to look at the trolls damage by way of dumb comments or picking on some of your PA buddies on the forums or what have you.

Listen. I like to joke around as the next guy and I would consider myself a pretty easy going progger of a man, but I gotta say that voting Knobby of the PA island was a good move. You can't feel sorry for the guy. He had soooooo many chances.

Oh and one more thing. What the hell is a 'JIMMEH' anyway???

I guess I will be notoriously pig-headed and make fun of something I don't understand, but it sounds like sound retarted Viking stroke victim language. Or maybe is it old English?
Anyway. I think it could be cooky-talk but I don't know for certain. ;)
