I just noticed that Canadian indie-rockers The Arcade Fire have been added to the site.  Now don't get me wrong, I love The Arcade Fire.  However, I can safely say that they have absolutely nothing to do with prog.  Their music is fairly straightforward pop-rock (albeit outstanding straightforward pop-rock), and I'd say that their inclusion is a prime example of why we need greater security measures with the addition of bands to the site.

P.S. Sorry to Frenchie who added them, I don't mean this as a personal attack on you or anything of the sort.  The other bands you added are perfectly fine, I just don't understand what inspired this particular one.

Let's try this again...

Well..  what determines if a band sticks or not?  Personally, Arcade Fire are nice indie, but not prog...  and if they're added, then we've got a few thousand indie bands to add, and I dunno how well that'd work.

Well, if we're gonna have The Arcade Fire, we might as well add the band they ripped off, The Pogues, who aren't prog OR post rock either.

I like 'em too...  but they aren't prog.

I'm really, really, really afraid that the "add a band" function will turn into a "add your favorite bands from all genres who have done as little as play a single non-pentatonic note in their career" function.

God dammit! Collaborators, stop adding your favorite bands for no reason!

This is getting ridiculous!

like I said before "progressive music" is being confused with "good music" and getting your favorite band listed on here is somehow acknowledging that they are a great band. "Progressive Rock" is simply a genre of music not an award.

I agree... I love The Arcade Fire, but they're not progressive at all and really don't belong on this site.

DELETE them! They are pretty good, but NOT PROG!  I mean, what's next? Placebo? (sorry Christopher  )

Good news everybody. i have sent a request to mailto:M@X - M@X to have them erased from this website! I musta been wired. I was thinking more of the post rock/experimental qualities and have realised that they do not have any prog rock qualities (at least not yet in their short career).

I apologise for offending peoples perceptions of prog by adding this band and even i want them out now.

What do you think of DO MAKE SAY THINK, FLY PAN AM, THE RESIDENTS, QUEEN and SUPER FURRY ANIMALS being added?

I visit this site to get away from things like crap Canadian "we're ironic and we don't really play that well" indie rock, which is far too popularin my otherwise lovely homeland...

Sigh. But I guess if I'm happy about Queen being here, I have to accept that other things that I don't like may be as well.

Now that The Arcade Fire have been taken care of, someone has added another interesting indie band with no relation to prog, Neutral Milk Hotel.  This is really showing that we need some kind of greater security measure here, because if nobody had said anything, these bands would have made it onto the site no problem.

Yeesh, this is getting out of hand. Like the Arcade Fire, I love NMH, but they're not prog at all and therefore should not be on this website. It's "ProgArchives," not "GoodMusicArchives"... looks like that's not as obvious as I would have thought.
