Sadly has died today.  As you will all know fantastic stop-motion animation 'dynamation' for films such as Jason and the Argonauts and Clash of the Titans.

Very sad loved his films when I was a kid.  (Oh and still)

Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

An absolute genius who created a new way of presenting fantasy on film, a talent like no other.   His contributions made my childhood that much better and he will be missed greatly.

If it weren't for him, stuff like Star Wars probably wouldn't have happened.

His stop-motion techniques were ground breaking for the period (especially when combined with live action) & although a bit jerky, still look good today - a couple of stills for which he was responsible:

RH created the monsters of my childhood.

RIP

^you're right Jim they do hold up-- the skeletons were famous but his Talos (the man of bronze) was incredible.   When married with sound effects, it is still great to watch.    I also love his work in Mysterious Island ; the giant bees, the Kraken, and the crab which Harryhausen formed from a real crabshell -

The Talos was brilliantly animated - the facial expression & sheer implaccability (sp?) of the creature - genuinely chilling.

Yet he could be killed by simply pulling out the plug:
