Big Big Train without any hesitations, they are not of this world

I voted for the only one I've heard, Cult Of Luna's.

Where are Guapo, Five-Storey Ensemble, Archestra, Setna, Herd Of Instincts, Phlox, Brand Brauer Frick, Ligeia Mare?

Seriously I have 9 great albums this year and only one makes this list?

Guess it's SW but it would have been Guapo.

Voted English Electric Part 2 though I like VOTUM's Harvest Moon and the new Not That City from the spawn of RATIONAL DIET, FIVE STOREY ENSEMBLE better than anything posted on the list.

I actually sort of wanted to vote SB (incredibly underrated band). Waiting for Me is 12 minutes of utter bliss. But then I remembered I played BBT's new record 20 times in the span of a week.

Wilson's.

Though my actual favorite is Combat Astronomy's newest.

Jinetes Negros all the way!

Although my favorite so far is Thieves' Kitchen's One For Sorrow, Two For Joy

Riverside, but admittedly I could recant that after getting some of these I still haven't heard. For now, though, SONGS is a ridiculously deserving album in my book.

SONGS I guess, I've been rather disappointed with prog so far this year. Hopefully it get's better soon

Steven Wilson ( The BBT album is a massive damp squib for me)

Voted for Spocks Beard as it's really good, haven't got round to buying Steven Wilson and BBT yet.

Big Big Train, just over Spock's Beard. The Raven is far behind. I don't have the same love for it as the rest of the members here.

I love SW, but EE2 is soooo good.

Raven is still my #1, very closely followed by Riverside.

Other albums are "Salvation" by The Prophecy, "Migrant" by The Dear Hunter, new ones from Aurora Project and Coheed.

Outside of prog, the only album to make my top 10 is in fact My Chemical Romance's farewell album.

SW. Probably my favourite out of everything he's been on.

My current #1 favourite of this year is not in this list. But #2, #3 and #5 are there: La Maschera di Cera, Big Big Train and Johannes Luley. Voted for Maestro Zuff's masterpiece.

Btw, Steven Wilson seems to have a solid fanbase here, but that is no news. I have paid little attention to his work during the last years (only one listen to Storm Corrosion to convince me that this album deserves a bare 3-star rating when rounding a little bit up), but I will listen to The Raven at least once before the year is over, I promise...

Voted for Big Big Train, I love The Raven, but English Electric Pt. 2 is amazing, in third place it would be Riverside and on fourth Spock's Beard. Wink

Only ones Ive heard from these is Eglish Electric and Riverside, both of which are just ok. So far Voivod Target Earth is my favorite of the year, but I'm really holding out for Exivious and CHON. The latter will hopefully be added to PA when the EP is released.

Steven Wilson's is by far the best I've heard this year followed by Spock's Beard. Apart from them (and the new Soft Machine Legacy album) there's no other prog albums I'm too excited about this year so far. Been a bit of a slow start IMO.

Thanks for the list there tszimay.  I didn't know Henry Fool had new one out, unfortunately I find myself once again without money for music.  I was gifted with the new Herd (thanks again Moshkito).  Have done streaming of the new Big Big Train.  And I did get a deluxe copy of Raven (w/ DVD).  I can't rank them though, they are all pretty good.
