Hello, all.  I've decided to join the community.  Not sure what all I'll do while I'm here, but I'm here nevertheless.

My history with progressive rock is a bit peculiar.  I grew up listening to Yes, 70s Pink Floyd, and the Alan Parsons Project, and pretty much nothing else (unless you want to count 90s Tangerine Dream, Asia, and a smidgen of Kansas and Supertramp).  My interest in progressive rock has been renewed as of late because I've been diving into the history of music in general for the past few years, watching documentaries, reading Wikipedia pages, and discovering sites like this and Metal Archives.  While I don't know if I'll be "diving" into this stuff as I listen to a modest variety of genres, progressive rock is something of which I do wish to explore a little more.  I have since listened to a few other artists, mostly Rush, some Glass Hammer and Dream Theater, and a bit of Procol Harum, and I imagine I'll be hitting some of the other heavy hitters, like Jethro Tull, Genesis, ELP, Marillion, etc.

More generally, I'm in my late 20s and currently a graduate student finishing my Masters of Science.  My other interests include animation, comics, video games, movies, sci-fi, fantasy, and other generally nerdy things.

Have at me!

You're on the right track, stick with who you've mentioned and then if your curiosity is peaked beyond your general interests, look into National Health, Gentle Giant, Steve Hackett, Wobbler, Greenslade, the Tangent.

Good luck on your path along music history and musicology, you never know where it'll take you.

Welcome, there is a lot to explore in prog but also in other musical genres. A whole life would not be enough to discover all the gems of music.

Well, thank you all.  I don't know how much you'll see of me, but I'll be around.

@dtguitarfan: I saw your signature picture on another thread and thought it was pretty cool.  I've thought about doing something similar just as a wallpaper, but I like your idea.  However, I'd really have to think hard about what to put on it.  I'm afraid I'd run out after about six or seven artists.
