A little Abbott and Costello, perhaps?

-What's the name of this band?
-Yes.
-What is?
-Yes.
-Why would a band call themselves "What?"
-What?
-That's right. Why?
-Why what?
-Exactly.
-You've lost me.
-I asked you what's the name of the band and you said...?
-Yes.
-So "What"'s the name of the band?
-Yes.
-So I want to know why a band would call themselves "What."
-No, no you've got it confused. The band isn't called "What?"
-What are they called then?
-Yes!
-Yes what?
-Just Yes.
-Look, if you've got a band, the band's gotta have a name, doesn't it?
-Yes.
-You need a name so people can buy your records and know where you're playing, right?
-Right.
-So what is it?
-Yes.
-But you told me it wasn't "What."
-It isn't.
-What is it then?
-Yes!
-Look, I'm getting tired of this. Are you gonna tell me the name of the band?
-Yes.
-Go on then.
-Yes.
-So tell me already!
-I just told you!
-What did you just tell me?
-The name of the band!
-You did?
-Yes.
-And the name of the band is...?
-Yes!
-Ah, forget it!

If anyone can find the Credibility Gap's 1970s version of "Who's On First" - in which a concert promoter tries to book a show headlined by the Who, the Guess Who and Yes - it would be much appreciated.

LOL

I swear I came up with a very similar "Who's on First" kind of skit, but it involved a festival where Yes, The Who, and The Band were playing.

I swear I came up with that skit 20 years ago.  It was only recently I learned it had been done before.  My version was so close to theirs too. But mine also included The Band.   I deserve some adulation and credit for that. Cool

edit:  JEEZZZ I already said all this a few days ago on the prior page.  I'm sorry to repeat myself, my memory has just gone down the toilet.  I'm really not an idiot.

At first I did not understand why the guy #2 would get the idea that the band's name is "What?" when the other guy said "Yes" ... until I got it. Big smile
