A nice variety here including a couple of live ones.
I'm going with Guru Guru for the second poll in a row.

K.A. wins this one, just too good not to vote for.  A couple really good ones came close, though...namely Neu! and especially Kraan's live album, some amazing stuff on that one.

As much as I love Magma's `K.A' and Hawkwind's spacey plodding `Space Ritual', I'm going nostalgiac on this one and voting Nektar's `Journey To The Centre Of The Eye', one of the first prog albums I ever bought.

Just last weekend at the local record fair I was holding a remastered version of it on CD in my hands, considering whether or not to finally upgrade from my LP, but I left it behind...

Now I have to wait until March next year for the next fair!

Anyway, it's a lovely deep space album, kind of similar to the early psychedelic Floyd albums, and it blew my mind when I first heard it! Still love it, too!

I just discovered Nektar a few weeks ago. After I heard Journey To The Centre, I was blown away. Possibly even my favorite Nektar album (yes, I really love this band. But every album is completely different, so it's an impossible decision whether or not it's my favorite).

Fantastic experience, I'd recommend it to anyone. Though there's many great choices, Nektar's top notch. Nice choice Michael!!

Lots of great stuff here. Magma, Miriodor, Heldon, Guru Guru...I want to give it to GG. My first Guru album and probably my favorite. But KA is magic. Esp part III.

LOL Yeah Guru Guru can be a little strange. It blows me away though how a couple of tracks on this particular album sound like Mahavishnu Orchestra.

I didn't expect a Magma / Nektar battle for top spot but the people have spoken. I though Henry Cow would get some love here.

I always joke that I vote for Magma in every poll, but I really haven't been lately.  Not in these polls anyway.  too much competition.  I wish I had more interesting things to say about these albums.  I really like them all.  That's about it.

Hey wait, I know:  The song cycle on "Space Ritual" has sometimes been said to outline a general storyline, despite the fact that it's a live album drawing from several sources (though primarily the Doremi album).  Just a real bare bones thing, i.e. Rocket Ship blasts off, hits some turbulence, kills some enemies, conquers all, only to be shot down in the end by the Master of the Universe.  Whatcha think?

It is definitely my least favorite Cow album. Would need some weaker competition for meto vote for it.

And look at Nektar go.

I find Hallogallo to have such a cool riff, but it is about 10 minutes too long since they just seem to repeat it throughout the whole song.

I guess it is only 10 minutes and 7 seconds long, so I suppose it is only about 9 minutes too long.  Wink  I do really like the riff, and with all of the pop prog that I listen to I am certainly not averse to the repetitive nature of the verse chorus verse chorus that so many prog fans hate, but this song is just too repetitive for my tastes.  It is the only song that I have ever heard from them as a result of that.  Embarrassed

I have a confession here. This is the first poll i've done where i included an album i don't own. I have In Praise Of Learning on order and hoped it would be in before this but no such luck. The fact it has no votes really makes me glad i bought it.Confused  Kidding aside i've heard so much about it and Dagmar's involvement makes it unique i'm sure from their other albums.  It does seem to be a love it or hate it recording for a lot of people though.

Sometimes I feel like a Greg echo.... NEU! For me. Probably the best debut album ever made imho. I love the natural, simplistic almost naive expression of it. Feels like the musical equivalent to opening up a faucet.

Interface and Stand By really do it for me because of the prominant guitar.  Just think of all of the amazing music that you will enjoy well into your golden years. You will just need to turn your hearing aid way up along with the music and hope the other seniors in your retirement home are also hard of hearing.Embarrassed

I've thought about thatBig smile Whereas most retirement homes probably will have The Prodigy's Smack my BEEEP up cranked way up high, I am going to have all these convoluted, mad, schizophrenic albums playing all day long - hopefully to the delight of my keepersLOL
Nah, I don't think I'll ever wind up in such a place to be honest. With the a amount of 'me, me, me' incorporated into kids' thinking pattern today, I don't think they'll give a rats' ass about other people, when that time comes when they face that dilemma - least of all us old folksOuch

Ahem... What just happened there?LOL Sorry about the misanthropic outburst, but as you can probably guess, I've had a little run in with some of the parents at work. Seems as if they haven't learned anything from The Beatles' Can't buy me love - plus that love can appear as a strict no at times - even if the kid says 'I hate you!' for an hour afterwards... Alright I'll stop now, I promiseLOL

Hey about those electronic albums John. Have you ever heard anything from Zombi? Sounds like a combination of Heldon and Tangerine Dream with Neil Peart like precision drumming. Animal Warrior should fit your tastes well methinksThumbs Up

^^^ Sorry, I don't want to interrupt the flow of the discussion, but....  John, I am interested in who-voted-for-what, and I am interested in discerning patterns when it comes to voting behaviour.  I am interested in statistics, and trying in some lame-O layman's terms to take deep, or at least not really, really shallow, meaning out of it.  Discussion is what's great, but I'm actually too superficial to add anything actually substantial,  insightful, or even mildly entertaining..

Hey i'll check Zombi out David, thanks !
Well if i do get old (and it's a big if because all the guys on my dads side of the family have never made it to 60 years of age) i think i'll stay with my youngest daughter if she'll have me. We are so alike it's insane. My oldest daughter is great because she loves a lot of the same kind of music as meShocked but i know i'd be getting into trouble with her all of the time and besides her fiance is a drug squad officerLOL.  I would be afraid to live with my son because he would abuse me i'm sure either physically or mentally.LOL

I'm not quite sure if your asking me something here but i will dispute your comments that your too superficial to add anything substancial, insightful or entertaining. What ?!  I always look forward to reading your posts and have learned so much from you over the years, so i'm not quite sure what your getting at. Stern Smile Yes i just blinked.
