For me it's between Miriodor and Kingston Wall, my favourite albums from both of these bands. Love that Jean Louis one though and of course Magma's second release. Actually every album on here is incredible in it's own way. So let the voting begin !

Let the first vote show "Kraan". I also considered Neu and of course Magma. But Kraan got my vote because... I'm not sure why, but it was what my gut said to do.

I gave Wintrup 4.5 stars because it is one amazing record. More polished and structured than the debut but i love it.

How intense is this freaking record ! They're like the power trio from hell, and a trio of bass, trumpet and drums at that.

By the way i voted Kingston Wall. I'm such a sucker for guitar driven rock and Petri is such an amazing guitarist. One of the best from Finland no doubt. Sadly he jumped off of a church steeple back in the mid nineties. The dude is legandary regardless.

Going Jean Louis, though I like all 5 I've heard. That one's lineup and such is too classic, though.

Happy Family, again. (Of course I've not even heard the others...)

Going to have to think this one over. But it's close between Miriodor and Korekyojinn. Both are wonderful and neither have votes.

For me it's between Kingston Wall and Happy Family. Walli Petri was such an outstanding guitarist, I'm sure Hendrix was a big influence on him, it really shows in his playing. I think this second album is their best, it flows so good and the material is superb, excellent drum work too.
Said that my vote goes to one of my all time favorite "modern" records Toscco. How amazing is this album? This japanese surprise gave me a polite knockout and I was floored for days. Why are these guys making such amazing music and manages to stay out of everybody's sight? Seriously I don't know what they were on, but it's like listening to King Crimson in seventh gear!
Funny name for a band making such kind of music.

Glad your back Phil ! Both are amazing albums right ? That Miriodor one has vocals on it and is maybe their most accessible. It really clicks with me anyway. Same with Korekyojinn's pick here, it's not as insane as most of their stuff.

I don't know this for sure but it wouldn't surprise me if they took their name from the King Crimson song called Happy Family from their Lizard album.

I got Toscco a few months ago but I haven't really immersed myself in it yet. I've heard wonderful things about it. I just haven't been in that kind of musical mood lately, but I know I will someday!

Don't know Kingston Wall still. Of the rest, I voted for 1001º Centigrades. It may be my favourite Magma album other than Kobaia. I think it's terrific. I totally disagree with the one star ratings for it of http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=16878" rel="nofollow - pawel sankowski
and http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=38575" rel="nofollow - obscuredbyclouds75
. Both have not generously rated Zeuhl albums generally....
The others are very good too, though, like Pawel, I never really got into Happy Family's Tossco (unlike him, it's not a one star album for me, more like three). I do like it more now than I once did. For me that album was a major disappointment when I got it. I much prefer Happy Family's début.

Maybe not too surprisingly, I went for Miriodor's debut. I really dig that thing. The combination of Canterbury styled fusion and some avant tendencies which are highly melodic in scope, almost approaching Italian heights, and here I am specifically thinking about Stormy Six, - the flow of the album moves over you like a big rhythmic wave of infatuating jazz rock that has a strange and most welcoming bounce in its trot. Almost voted for Magma and NEU! though...

I would have been surprised if you didn't vote Magma here. Recently i've found myself actually prefering Kobaia more than 1001 Centigrades which is a first for me. Both are great anyway of course but this is a first for me.

I'm so glad Miriodor got a vote here, i was starting to feel guilty for not voting for that one. I like the way you describe it as Canterbury styled fusion with some avant tendencies. A 5 star record for me. I thought you might vote Neu! but the debut is coming up soon but with lots of competition.

The same with Korekyojinn for me. So much noise ! Okay not so much on that Arabesque record but maybe that's the only exception.

^Or maybe a blurry head filled with snaps and stale Christmas melodies... Sometimes I just need music that blows my head off, when I've overdosed on Wham's Last Christmas that continuously try to assassinate me in the most lethargic and slow manner ever conceived by human beings with its creamy buttery slice of greyness. THAT is where you need albums such as Toscco the most.

I don't think most of Korekyojinn's stuff is all that noisy really...maybe their insanity just clicks that well with the internal machinations of my brain...

Thanks! They are. And now both have one vote...thus still tied! Haha. I'm going to go with Korekyojinn after thinking it over. The early Kore stuff is great and still captivates me greatly.

I agree. Certainly the most out there stuff is their earlier work (though I haven't heard Swan Dive)...but of course I'm familar with much noiser stuff. Not to dismiss my many brain malfunctions of course.
