White Stone is actually just a pseudonym for musician Marc C. Cancassi. He is a multifaceted artist currently residing in NYC. The music of White Stone is sparse, spacey, stripped down and under produced...like everything else that came out of the 60's.Comparisons can be made to early Floyd,Nick Drake,Procol Harum and Mike Oldfield. He has toured since 1985 playing clubs such as CBGB's,the DIVE,TRAX,the KNITTING FACTORY and the Joint in California. He is currently still active on the touring circuit.

This may be worth moving to 'Suggest New Bands And Artists' forum (Psyche sub genre?) This guy has six studio albums out and two live ones - all available to purchase from various sources. Most of them are instrumental albums, but a couple of them do have vocals. He has 8 tracks on myspace, and here are the White Stone videos from his YouTube channel:
Seems to be virtually unknown. All but the last two albums are on RYM, but not a single rating or any info about him!

Cool clean clear guitar windcharm indeed.
Thanks for the comments. Some of the music has a bit more edgier
guitar, especially on the cd JOURNEY INTO TIME which is very Dave
Gilmour-esque.

Thanks for the posting of the videos, much obliged~
I thought I would post some of the reviews of the band. With the exception of their debut cd and two live albums the music of White Stone is mostly instrumental with some prog' elements. They have explored everything from alternative and folk, post punk to their current recordings which are all instrumental. Here are some reviews:
1st album TONE CLUSTERS MAGAZINE
"Nice guitar pop CD,a good guitarist and vocalist (Marc
Cancassi),crispy drummer(Mike Cancassi and S.A.), undermiked but
nice-when-I-can hear it bass(Rich Seibert)and altogether it kinda
resembles Nick Drake fronting R.E.M. or Dire Straits(the latter on
'Runaway,'the former on 'Singled Out').Marc C. has a solid street-corner
falsetto an' a good grasp of folk forms(dig how he sing's the opening
and closing verses of 'Runaway,'tight-as-a-watch-spring guitar riff
doggin' his every step;thats the Drake connection.Wanna hear him sing
'Pink Moon,' man).Yeah, there's a Bruce Springsteen move('A Canaanite
Woman.'Don't hardly matter, killer piano riff an organ cushioning)but
it's taken with a step back like Dylan might have done(though he'd have
done this song at about 2/3 the tempo Marc does it),so Cancassi' got
some definite smarts. In fact I like the air o' gentle regret all through
this,even the hip-shakin' 'He's in Love(with himself)' (there's two
versions of that here,an I like the live one better)an' 'Seasons,' the
opener, which pops off the times of the year one after another,an' the
losses mount as they will,ya know('our kids are gone...our parents are
gone...who could ever take their place?')until there's nothing left to
lose.Yeah,we all either been there or gonna be there. There's a fine
'N.W. Blues'(a real blues wowee, thought only Kevin Coyne remembered how
to do them),a bouncy 'Waiting for this Dream' that's got a few bald
spots including a Bread-like middle eight(gotta be careful there
Marc),and my fave here is 'Land(that ain't got no light),'a naked Nick
Drake-like ballad with fine pianer' at the end.
Mr.Cancassi an' cohorts have some talent an' they could be
world-beaters with the right help. There's only about 36 minutes of music
on this(with the tape manipulations at the end;he got a sense of humor
too),but it's all pretty good an' some of it is really good.So give this
a try." -C.B./Dec. 2001
JOURNEY INTO TIME-2ND CD
TONE CLUSTERS MAGAZINE "Interesting
turn for this artist from his 2001 debut CD'S John Mellencamp-like
tales of the regular guy's up's and down's to this, a series of nice
moody instrumentals built on ANIMALS-era Pink Floyd chord changes and
featuring some slow-burn droning and a bit of guitar flash recalling
Dave Gilmour or The Church's Peter Koppes. The tempos are all medium to
thereabouts, and I like the Robin Trower twist to 'Tomorrow's Song' and
the atmosphereic 'Space Station Blues.'I think a few more days on the
work bench for the next set of tunes will make the follow-up music to
fill the mind as much as this does the room.A good start." -K.E./2003
DAYS TO REMEBER-4TH CD
Indie Music Stop
"Days To Remember is an instrumental release that's a collection of
everything from jazz, classical, and folk to rock styles of music. The
first couple of tracks where just a little to mellow for me. For the
most part they feature melodic repetitive chords being played either on
the keyboard or guitar. That all changed though once track 5,
"Earthjazzblues" rolled around.
"Earthjazzblues" is a 9-minutes musical explosion that mixes steady
percussion and a mixture of jazz and blues/rock guitar parts. The band
says that the song is a tribute to Frank Zappa/ Jeff Beck. This song is
very entertaining and really rips it out for the entire 9-minutes that
went by too fast.
The next several tracks also take the more up-tempo approach.
Track-6 "NY Slide," is filled with funky fast driving rhythmic beats
along with track-7 "World Passin' On Blues."
Track-8 "Land of Zep'," is a low-fi tribute to the legendary band
Led Zeppelin. The guitar parts though reminded more of the acid playing
style of Jimi Hendrix.
While the first several tracks were a little too melodic in tone for
my personal taste, the music found from track-5 on more then made up
for it. If you like the more melodic song flow then enjoy Days To
Remember right from track-1 otherwise hang in there until track-5 hits
and enjoy the musical ride from that point on."-C.W. Ross/NOV. 2007
