Can't go against my natural Zeuhl instincts every time. I don't think I rate this album as highly as some of you other Magma-nutters though. Its probably only my 8th or 9th favorite. Followed by Lard Free and Kollektiv. Two solid albums by great bands, but I have other favorites in both bands discography. Nebelest always came across as somewhat cold and sterile to my ears. I'm sure I would have loved seeing them live. Don't think I've heard anything from that Hawkwind album. I will simply have to accept that its a band I've always wanted to get into, that has never clicked with me.

Magma Live pretty much changed the course of my life, and Kohntarkosz from that album is my all-time favorite piece of music, so my choice is clear: I'm voting for Lard Free. I love this album. Lots of sax and flute and they liked to manipulate their sound with fuzz, wah wah, echo etc. They loved to improvise as well. A must for Krautrock fans. ------------- "The wind is slowly tearing her apart" "Sad Rain" ANEKDOTEN |

I do rate that Magma one high as far as their live records go. Maybe my fav live one from them. I actually rate that GAM album the highest of all on the list but in listening to these the last few days i have to pick Nebelnest's debut. I'm such a sucker for dark, heavy music with lots of warm mellotron poured all over it.  Oh boy...anyway the GAM album is a posthumous release that was actually recorded in 1978 then restored and edited by Alan Freeeman(Comic Egg dude) in 2002. A unique sounding record as we get a trio of two guitarists and a drummer but the leader plays echo guitar and manipulates the sound of it so you'd think you were hearing synths and electronics.------------- "The wind is slowly tearing her apart" "Sad Rain" ANEKDOTEN |

Well of the ones on the list i think you'd like Hawkwind, it's a lot of fun. That Ikarus album is great too with English vocals and a lot of lyrics about saving the enviroment. Plenty of saxes, clarinet and flute. This is their lone album from 1971. For me this list of albums is very high end. Missus Beastly's live album from 1974 is rightly under JazzRock/Fusion and this one is proffessionally recorded by Radio Bremen and features three long tracks. Eddy Marron is on this one playing guitar, he was with DZYAN at this time but lent his talents to some of Missus Beastly live dates. Just as an aside Eddy mentions in the liner notes that this band never took drugs, it was 100% about the music and it sure shows on this incredible album. ------------- "The wind is slowly tearing her apart" "Sad Rain" ANEKDOTEN |

Don't know too many, other than Magma, LF, and a few songs off of Electric Teepee.
