I thought the sequel was the second film? Once you have three you have a series. So I won't vote on the basis of the question, just choose the film I like least. Can hardly believe you got Dark Night Rises here, what is wrong with you?

hold on now-- Rambo 3 was better than 2, and much better than the Rocky or Superman sequels. And sorry but Alien 3 is a great movie. I'd have to say Supes 4 or Batman&Robin.

I'm not going to vote, I have a lot of love for many of these films!
From this list, however.....maybe `Superman 3', if only for that wretched slapstick physical comedy opening credit scene! The film was pretty sweet when Superman fought that evil version of himself, though!
Even `Superman 4' is a lot of B-grade fun and has plenty of heart thanks to ever-reliable Christopher Reeves.
Wasn't that the film that had the huge globe of the world being suspended by one of Superman's single hairs?!

I have fond memories of all the Supeman-movies, and quite liked Batman Forever. The rest of the ones I've seen were rather lame or terrible, yes.
Here's some (more) I truly hated
Matrix Reloaded (I'm sure Revolutions is even worse, but I never bothered to find out)
Meet the Fockers
Analyze That
Aliens (I know most people likes it, but I thought it was crap)
Gremlins II
Highlander II
Jaws IV (The Revenge) Stupidest plot ever!
Posted By: Aussie-Byrd-Brother
Date Posted: July 24 2012 at 04:44
Saperlipopette! Pretty sure most fans kind of `blacklisted' Highlander 2 and essentially wiped it from the series continuity, am I correct? If only we could do that with so many other lame sequels!
Hey, I'm hoping I may have the worst sequel yet! :
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret Of The Ooze
Sadly, my friend and I had a conversation the other day wondering if it was as bad as we remembered, so we watched it again.....oh, it was even WORSE than our precious childhood memories told us.
So, yeah, the stain of that one is still pretty fresh!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2
Isn't that where Vanilla Ice turns up and does a little dance together with the mutated renaissance artists right before the end titles?
Edit: Googled and found it. Classic scene.
Almost as I remembered

Oh yes, with Vanilla Ice, that's the one!
That's bad enough, but the (urh) `film' comes across as the most inept, worst attempt at disguising a toy commercial as a movie. It doesn't even try to make any attempt at being even remotely decent, just falls flat from one scene to the next, rubbish martial arts scenes, dreadful voice acting from the lead characters, awful joke after awful joke.
Then again, it's meant for 6 year olds with the aim of selling them toys, so I suppose it was more than successful in that respect!
I suppose the puppet work and costumes are pretty well done, but that's the only plus!
Most sequels at least have the delusion of TRYING to be half-decent lol!

One of my least favorite sequels (but not worst ever) was Die Hard II.
I think most people want a sequel to be at least as good, if not slightly better, than the original.
The airport Die Hard was not nearly as good as the original.
Fortunately, Die Hard III came along and more than made up for the disappointing DH II.

I'm pretty sure The Dark Knight Rises was intended to happen when the first one was being made, it's like putting the last LOTR movie on this list. Most of these other movies are obvious cash-ins because of movies prior.

The only really bad sequels are those where the original was already dismal. Most of the flims listed here are fairly decent films in their own right, just some of them had a lot to live up to (including the expectation of the fans) - that doesn't make them bad, it just makes them not as good as the earlier film(s) in the series.
Eddie Murphy in a fatsuit - those are just going to get progressively worse with each film by default.

Believe it or not, these atrocious quotes are part of the same film:
Robin : I hate to disappoint you but my rubber lips are immune to your charms

Three million! /name/nm0000563/" rel="nofollow - Robin : I'll borrow it from you! Four million! /name/nm0000123/" rel="nofollow - Batman : Five million! /name/nm0000563/" rel="nofollow - Robin : That's a utility belt not a money belt. Six million. [Batman looks at Robin and then produces something from said-belt] /name/nm0000123/" rel="nofollow - Batman : [firmly] Seven million. [it's a credit card blazed with the Bat symbol. /name/nm0000224/" rel="nofollow - Batgirl : [to Poison Ivy] Using feminine wiles to get what you want? Trading on your looks? Read a book, sister. That passive-aggressive number went out years ago.
/name/nm0000123/" rel="nofollow - Batman : Hey, Freeze. The heat is on
And then of course we get all the f***ing winter/cold/ice related quotes from the austrian Mr. Freeze:
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : You're not sending ME to the COOLER!
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : Mercy? I'm afraid my condition has left me cold to your pleas of mercy
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : Tonight, hell freezes over!
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : Ice to see you!
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : NOT! Surprise, I am your new cell mate. And I'm here to make your life a living hell. Prepare for a bitter harvest. Winter has come at last.
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : I will blanket the city in endless winter. First Gotham, and then the world.
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : What killed the dinosaurs? The Ice Age!
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : In this universe, there's only one absolute... everything freezes! /name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : Cool party! /name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : [referring to Batman and Robin] Their bones will turn to ice! Their blood will freeze in my hands!
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : Can you be cold, Batman? You have eleven minutes to thaw a bird. What will you do? Chase the villain or save the boy? Your emotions make you weak. That's why this day is mine!
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : If revenge is a dish best served cold, then put on your Sunday finest. It's time to feast! /name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : Watch the numbers, Batman, for they are the harbingers of your doom. Can you feel it coming? The icy cold of space! Ahh! At 30,000 feet, your heart will *freeze* and be no more!
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : Allow me to break the ice. My name is Freeze. Learn it well. For it's the chilling sound of your doom.
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : Let's kick some ice!
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : The Ice Man cometh!
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : Tonight's forecast... a freeze is coming!
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : Yes! If I must suffer... Humanity will suffer with me! I shall repay them for sentencing me to a life without human comfort. I will blanket the city in endless winter! First... Gotham. And then... The world! /name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : One more giant diamond of this size, then my freeze engine will be complete. Aah. First, I will freeze the city, then I will hold Gotham ransom. Unless the city bows for my demands, it's winter forever in Gotham. The city fathers will have no choice but to give me the billions I need to complete my research, then I can find the cure.
/name/nm0000216/" rel="nofollow - Mr. Freeze : Freeze in hell, Batman!

You posting all those `Batman and Robin' quotes just makes me want to watch it all over again! I find the film a huge guilty pleasure in a `so bad, it's good' way - just like Van Damme's technicolour `Streetfighter' movie!

I totally get you. It's a terrible film, but the script is so bad it's freaking hilarious. And I don't know who the hell must have thought of Clooney to portrait Batman. Worst choice ever. Besides:
Enough said.

Looking at that picture you posted, Clooney LOOKED the part behind the mask, but he was very unconvicing when he actually acted in it. He was just too....George Clooney??
I think his only good scenes in that film are when he's with the frail Alfred, which were surpisingly touching.
I did read recently that, although he knows how bad the film is and how ridiculed it is, he considers that film the biggest break he ever got in his career!

I would have chosen Terminator 3 from the list, but I voted "Other": Conan the Destroyer.
Otherwise, maybe Highlander 3 . I don't remember any of it, only that it was awful, worse than 2.
The Exorcist II was also an incredibly bad sequel, especially considering how great the first movie was.
The Ring Two - another really bad sequel which I have entirely forgotten.
Posted By: Aussie-Byrd-Brother

Hey Wilmon91! I love `Conan The Destroyer' lol!
OK, so it's not grand and epic like the first one, but it's a hugely entertaining comic book styled movie! Grace Jones was great fun in it too! I found it quite fast paced and easy to watch when I saw it a few weeks ago for the first time in a long while.
Don't remember much about `Highlander 3', it was a big improvement on the second one, but mostly a retread of the first one, and didn't advance the series story one bit. I think the swordfighting in it was the only slight positive?
Love your Castlevania avatar, that old SNES game is one of my favourites!

^ Well, I have forgotten most , but I remember some scenes. In one scene they are sneaking around in a cave, very overplayed , and there is smoke coming out of their mouths when they are breathing, to show how cold it is... and it looks ridiculous. I thought it was horrible but I guess it might be entertaining if you see it from another angle!
Great that you like Castlevania. It's a favourite of mine too, the music is really something else!

As in the FOURTH self titled `Rambo' film?! That was a great film!! A real sense of tension in the last half, some very exciting and savage action, and he directed it far better than his own `Expendables' film. The raid on the enemy base at night in the rain was gripping!
As for flabby, well, pretty sure he didn't take his shirt off in this one, so you might be right lol!

If the first movie is awful itself then it's out of contention for "worst sequel" as there's no step down. Transformers was terrible so the fact that Transformers 2 was also terrible doesn't mean much. There's a reason I didn't nominate Catman 2: Boxer's Blow
Caddyshack II is the correct answer.

True. But any poll with "worst", "movies" and "ever" should include some mention of Michael Bay, at least.
