To me it means, "this sentence may sound like I'm belittling you, but I'm really not". Kind of like saying "no offense, but...." and then saying something offensive. Still, I feel compelled to use this emoticon, as it's my only way of hinting that I'm not being completely serious. This. Seriously, I've never thought the wink was condescending. I try to use it when I'm making a joke or clever statement to make sure people don't think I'm serious. I might use it in a teasing way, or just to emphasize that I'm joking so I don't look stupid, but I try not to use it as a "cover up" for a comment that's condescending. ------------- I love dogs, I've always loved dogs |
