Mine has to be infinity minus 1

I chose 11. You don't think about it a lot, so when you do, it feels a little more special than the others.

Mine's five, but my second is eleven. Honest.

Numbers are only a representation. If everyone was used to using base 14, but 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 had different symbols, so that you only reached double digits when you hit 14 instead of 10. So the number 14 would look like 10. And 28 would look like 20. And 27 would look like 1(symbolfor13).
So my favorite number is the only real number. Zero.
I say this all with a grin too.
But since I can't vote for zero, I'm gonna go with 5. Because it just feels right to say 5 and think in 5s. Plus I love to break 5, 10, 15, and 20 down into smaller prime subgroups in composition.

6. Since I was a kid it was my favorite. Probably that's because all the fun stuff was on the sixth channel (now STS) in St.-Petersburg.

You missed infinitely many numbers not on this list :(
Euler's number would probably be my favorite followed closely by the squareroot of 2.
If we're talking integers, before I studied math it was 11. I enjoyed the primality and the symmetry. It's also cool how it's an iterative number of the multiplicative identity. Since studying it, I've found 11 can be kind of boring, but I guess I'll still say it's 11.

I analyze numbers and data for a living. It's hard to explain, but that number seems to come in handy more than any other. Plus, tack it on the end of any number, and it will multiply it by ten, for added pizazz.

Yeah, that's what I meant by 'dirty dozen', and if that and 'unlucky number' are not synonymous, then I apologize. That's exactly what I meant - an unlucky number. Besides, I was born on 13th of March ... .

There probably are, but in our standard Real number system ration and irrational together would cover anything. He's missing imaginary too, but since the idea of a number is so general he's missing more things than we could even talking about. I just assumed he was narrowing his attention to the Reals.

I don't have a favourite number, or a lucky number or a prefered number. When I was younger (4 or 5) I wanted 4 to be my lucky number as it was my month of birth, but I soon realised it was no more or less lucky than any other number so it soon lost any significance.
Equality 7-2521 wrote:

I like this number because 2/√2 = √2 and ½√2 = √½ = 1/√2 = cos(π/4) = sin(π/4) and ISO paper sizes are based on it... and many other reasons, such as it is the ratio of peak to RMS for a sine wave and the f-stops on a camera lens and the tritone interval in the twelve-tone musical scale (the semitone note interval is the 1/12 root of 2).
The golden ratio is pretty neat too.

I was gunna say this is research you want to do, but I've been beaten to the punch. Also lol you best be trolling...
I believe 42 would fall in the "23.2 to infinity (please specify)" range Goodness PA, I can't believe literally everything needs to be spelled out like this
People might be confused by your use of infinity as a bounded, finite number. Perhaps saying >=23.2 would have been more illuminating.
Fair point.
Alas, I can't go back now. Lord knows I can't change.

See, I just knew there was something about 11. So easy to forget about it, but once you think about it, it's really a good number.

Well I'd like to say it's 42 because the Hitchhiker's guide <3.
But in all honesty it's 3. I love 3. When something is divisible by 3 I'm a happier person.
Also 7 is cool.

^ 3 is frequently used in Russian literature: 33 bogatyrya (warriors), three wishes fulfilled by the Goldfish for the old fisherman, etc.

7 is cool for a couple reasons. Songs that are in 7 are more fun to listen to than songs in 4 or 6. And if you divide any number by 7, if it isn't evenly divisible, you always get the repeating sequence 142857 after the decimal point - starting with any of them but always repeating them in the same sequence.

^ it's also a very common number in Ancient Greece, and the Bible, and probably more cultures. Along with 3, 12 and others. But 12 sucks. Anybody who likes 12 is probably a Satanist. No real Satanist actually like 6 or 13, only mainstream Satanists.
