You can find a lof of DIY info on http://www.audiokarma.org" rel="nofollow - www.audiokarma.org , its one of my fav sites for audio equipment...both vintage and new.
There will be TONS of members who have built tube amps that can suggest kits or parts suppliers.

There is a company up in my neck of the woods that sells kits (http://www.bottlehead.com/store.php). They are not cheap, but one of my friends built on their amplifiers and it produces a sound to behold (so he tells me, I haven't heard it). They have a forum that's obviously directed at those assembling their own products, but you might pick up some pointers there. ------------- Can you tell me where we're headin'? Well Jammun, there is this effect we can call builders pride. If you build it yourself it will magically sound awesome to you. It's some kind of psychological anomaly. The effect is seemingly increased in direct proportion to the amount you spend on it. I'm not saying this is a bad thing... in fact I'm half counting on it being true :) I'll check out bottlehead though. And When I get around to doing it I think I will document my build here, that way others can learn from my mistakes. ------------- This space intentionally left blank |
