Hey guys. We actually have two albums on here but have never really introduced ourselves. We are a proggy/grungy/ metal band from Vancouver, Canada. We started up in 2008 and just finished our 2nd full length that you can find here:

If you like Rush or Porcupine Tree or stuff like that you might like us...although we don't sound exactly like them ;)

On another note, we will be touring the Western US this summer so if you live in Washington state, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado or Idaho, we will likely be playing somewhere near you. We hope to see some old school Proggers on our travels!

Cheers,
Chris from MM

Shocked no need to overwhelm the forum sections with announcements ... your album sounds promising nevertheless, I like it Clap

I hear some Snakes and Arrows influence.

I think Rush in general. Its kind of hard to deny a Rush influence when Ive listened to them since I was 14 years old. I don't even think of Rush when I'm writing the songs it just comes out that way. Could also be the fact I like to mix acoustic guitars with electric like Snakes and Arrows. But I've always done that really even before I heard S and A. In fact I write all the songs on acoustic and add electric later. Kinda weird I guess.

That's actually how Alex Lifeson wrote his parts for Vapor Trails; he composed everything on acoustic first because he thought it was more "pure."  Or at least that's the reason I remember.  I definitely think it gave his guitar parts a certain character that was different from anything he'd done before.  I tend to write songs the same way, if only because it's easier to pick up an acoustic and play than it is to plug the electric in, tune it (because it's inevitably out of tune), find the right amp sound, put earplugs in, mess with the tone and pickup knobs...you get the picture.

Yeah it's mostly out of necessity to write on acoustic also for me because I live in an apartment and don't wanna bother the neighbors with my racket. Also it's convenient. But also when you start recording you realize some parts shouldn't be electric at all cuz they sounded better on acoustic already. That's why I always mix the two on recordings.

Just think, soon people will be cursing each other with the epithet: "You stinkin' son of a Beatle!"

Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

When I compose parts alone in my home itīs always on an acoustic, but when I compose with my band, itīs naturally on the electric guitar. So most of the material that I write is a mix of composed acoustic parts that are later re-arranged for electric and jamming electric parts.
