hey, am new!
Hi all, am from Quebec (Canada), speak french, am old enough to have teen kids and yes am a woman!
I know we are not a lot out there who listen to prog music, even less girls. As far I could remember I was always attracted to that kind of music, my uncles was listening to Led Zepelin, Pink Floyd, Deep purple (among others) in crazy 70'... I think you got the idea of what kind of uncles they were Anyway, I could just stay in a corner watching them have fun and listening to the music!
When I was old enough to have my own records (around 10-11), I started by buying some (dont laugh) Styx, Supertram and Kiss. At around 13 I was into Rush, Ozzy Osburne and Iron Maiden. Not so long after that I stumble onto Marillion and I have been a devoted fan since then.
Since then I have explored lots of styles but am a prog head and when someone ask me what kind of music I listen to I reply proudly Progressive music (that get me some strange look tho lol).
I have lots of diffferent taste (pop, rock, metal...). Am not into old stuffs anymore tho (yeah sometime I spin an old Yes or Genesis or Pink Floyd anyway ), I respect their works but I like to explore new sounds, new groups. I listen to all I can get my hand on and if I like what I hear, I'll try to find all the back catalogue of the band or artist and pursued my discovery.
anyway, thats enough of that..... now about what are my favorites right now (its in constant motion tho):
-Pain of Salvation
-Did I say Marillion yet?
-Fish
-Riverside
-Ayeron
-Blackfield
-Pineapple Thief
-Arena
-IQ
-Flower Kings
-Knight Area
-Moongarden
-and so on......
am always open to new suggestions.
------------- Yes, a girl who likes prog!

Well hello Angelina!
You are not alone. My wife BaldFriede and I (we live in a same sex marriage) are also into prog, though we seem to be going into a different direction. Some of the prog we like: Van der Graaf Generator Gong Magma Hawkwind Gentle Giant most of the Canterbury and R.I.O. bands High Tide
And not to forget a lot of krautrock bands, like Guru Guru or Embryo, for example.
It's good to see another woman in here.

Hi there! I can't say I'm very keen on any of the groups you've listed
up there, but do stick around and see how your tastes could develop!
New female members are especially welcome, being such a minority!
