Favourite Reason For Loving Favourite Band:

Phew! Well, once you've done that if you have ideas for other categories to add then do so! I hope this thread runs for a while and it might introduce new bands to people.

All right then, here's my own responses:

Favourite Band: Gentle Giant
Favourite Album From Favourite Band:
In a Glass House
Favourite Song From Favourite Album: Experience
Favourite Member of Favourite Band: Kerry Minnear (Keys, vibes, cello and others)
Favourite Cover Art From Favourite Band:

Favourite Live Song From Favourite Band:

Favourite Solo From Favourite Band: Vibes solo from any live version of Funny Ways
Favourite Lyrics From Favourite Band:
See me, what I am, what I was, what I'll be,
Hear me, understand that I'm not what you see
Take this, take the man, middle term, common me
Don't you see that I'm just doing what I want to do
Nothing more and nothing less than you
Read no thoughts I didn't think myself
Just the same as anybody else

Make me someone else, put me up on a stand.
Something that I don't really want on my hands
Use me, idolise all you can understand
Don't you see that I'm just doing what I want to do
Nothing more and nothing less than you
Read no thoughts I didn't think myself
Just the same as anybody else

Change it, what you think, what you thought, what you say
Look for something more than you sought yesterday.
I don't want to be part of your life to-day.
Don't you see that I'm just doing what I want to do
Nothing more and nothing less than you
Read no thoughts I didn't think myself
Just the same as anybody else

Good call on the lyrics, there are so many there could be on that album though. I might do it later, but it couldn't be my favourite band, I'd have to choose one that's up there...

Favourite Member of Favourite Band:  Vinnie Colaiuta

Favourite Solo From Favourite Band:  Inca Roads guitar solo by Frank.
Favourite Lyrics From Favourite Band:  Absolutely Free

Suzy: I don't do publicity balling for you anymore

FZ: The first word in this song is discorporate. It means to leave your body

Discorporate & come with me
Shifting; drifting
Cloudless; starless
VELVET VALLEYS & A SAPPHIRE
SEA: Wah Wah

Unbind your mind
There is no time
To lick your stamps
And paste them in
DISCORPORATE
And we will begin . . .WAH WAH!
(Flower Power Sucks)

Diamonds on velvets on goldens on vixen
On comet & cupid on donner & blitzen
On up & away & afar & a go-go
Escape from the weight of your corporate logo!

UNBIND YOUR MIND
THERE IS NO TIME
Boin-n-n-n-n-n-g
TO LICK YOUR STAMPS
AND PASTE THEM IN
DISCORPORATE
AND WE'LL BEGIN
FREEDOM! FREEDOM!
KINDLY LOVING!
YOU'LL BE ABSOLUTELY FREE
ONLY IF YOU WANT TO BE

Dreaming on cushions of velvet & satin
To music by magic by people that happen
To enter the world of a strange purple Jello
The dreams as they live them are all mellow yellow

UNBIND YOUR MIND
THERE IS NO TIME
Boin-n-n-n-n-n-g
TO LICK YOUR STAMPS
AND PASTE THEM IN
DISCORPORATE
AND WE'LL BEGIN
FREEDOM! FREEDOM!
KINDLY LOVING!
YOU'LL BE ABSOLUTELY FREE
ONLY IF YOU WANT TO BE

YOU'LL BE ABSOLUTELY FREE
ONLY IF YOU WANT TO BE

Favourite Reason For Loving Favourite Band:  The originality, the Ripley's Believe It Or Not playing, the innovation, the sheer genius.

Favourite Cover Art From Favourite Band:

Favourite Solo From Favourite Band:  Snakefinger's guitar solo in Moisture.
Favourite Lyrics From Favourite Band:

Fingertips

Something faintly emanating
Perfume and decay
Whispered lightly in the wind
That she had got away

Longing for the touch of something
Soft upon my face
I thought about her fingertips
And not her lack of grace

Sorry about those lyrics if they seem too serious for you, they're of sentimental value.

Favourite Reason For Loving Favourite Band:  The most original band I've ever heard, and very intelligent people.

Favourite Band: Van der Graaf Generator
Favourite Album From Favourite Band: Tough, but I'll go with "Godbluff", since it was my first.
Favourite Song From Favourite Album: Tough again. Arrow.
Favourite Member of Favourite Band: Peter Hammill
Favourite Cover Art From Favourite Band:

Favourite Live Song From Favourite Band: Oh my. Still Life.
Favourite Solo From Favourite Band: Van der Graaf Generator is not really about solos, but for weirdness sake the guitar-"solo" of Peter Hammill at the end of "Meurglys III - the Songwriters Guild".
Favourite Lyrics From Favourite Band: Difficult again. Currently "Nutter Alert". Here the lyrics:
It might come in a letter,
darkness falls in a telephone call;
I await the unexpected
with one ear to the party wall.
Is it the pricking of the conscience,
is it the itching of hair shirt,
is it the dictionary definition
of a precipice to skirt?
It's the nutter alert.

Though this face is familiar
something in it has bred contempt;
I never asked for your opinion
or your back-handed compliments.
Oh, but here comes that special nonsense
all the words out in a spurt,
the unhinging of the trolley
as the mouth begins to blurt...
it's the nutter alert

I can see we're in trouble
from that glint in the eye you've got;
there's no sense to the story,
comprehensively lost, the plot.
And how contorted is that logic
you so forcefully exert:
you're a car crash in the making,
head-on, that's a racing cert.
It's the nutter alert,
this is the nutter alert.

Favourite Reason For Loving Favourite Band: The unique voice of Peter Hammill. Also this is a band which is more than just a sum of its parts. There are certainly bands with greater virtuosos on their instruments (except Peter Hammill as a singer), but once again: This is not what Van der Graaf Generator is all about. Van der Graaf Generator are a band full of energy.

Favourite Band: Dream Theater duh.  (Sorry, My Love Gildenlow, not here)
Favourite Album From Favourite Band: Dream Theater- Images and Words
Favourite Song From Favourite Album: Learning to Live of course
Favourite Member of Favourite Band: John Petrucci, who else?

Favourite Cover Art From Favourite Band:

You know all the front cover of it, so I just want to add some flavor
Favourite Live Song From Favourite Band: Instrumedley on Live at Budokan
Favourite Solo From Favourite Band: Trial of Teras of course, I just love it
Favourite Lyrics From Favourite Band: The Spirit Carries On

Where did we come from?
Why are we here?
Where do we go when we die?
What lies beyond
And what lay before?
Is anything certain in life?

They say " Life is too short"
"The here and the now"
And " You`re only given one shot"
But could there be more
Have I lived before
Or could this be all that we`ve got?

If I die tomorrow
I`d be allright
Because I believe
That after we`re gone
The spirit carries on

I used to be frightened of dying
I used to think death was the end
But that was before
I`m not scared anymore
I know that my soul will transcend

I may never find all the answers
I may never understand why
I may never prove
What I know to be true
But I know that I still have to try

If I die tomorrow
I`d be allright
Because I believe
That after we`re gone
The spirit carries on

[Victoria:]
"Move on, be brave
Don`t weep at my grave
Because I`m no longer here
But please never let
Your memories of me disappear"

[Nicholas:]
Safe in the light that surrounds me
Free of the fear and the pain
My questioning mind
Has help me to find
The meaning in my life again
Victoria`s real
I finally feel
At peace with the girl in my dreams
And now that I`m here
It`s perfectly clear
I found out what all of this means

If I die tomorrow
I`d be allright
Because I believe
That after we`re gone
The spirit carries on

Favourite Reason For Loving Favourite Band: Because they are so 1337 and I'm just 10 years old . Jus' Kiddin'!

Dream Theater are technical, emotional, brilliant and exhilirating. They are also the best band live other than Pain Of Salvation (of course) No one can bring them off my list right now

Favourite Band:
Rush

Favourite Album From Favourite Band:
Moving Pictures

Favourite Song From Favourite Album:
Tom Sawyer

Favourite Member of Favourite Band:
Alex Lifeson, far better than many people realise.

Favourite Cover Art From Favourite Band:

Favourite Live Song From Favourite Band:

ByTor & The Snow Dog (From ATWAS)

Favourite Solo From Favourite Band:
Guitar Solo in La Villa Strangiato.

Favourite Lyrics From Favourite Band:
The Camera Eye:

I

Grim-faced and forbidding,
Their faces closed tight,
An angular mass of New Yorkers
Pacing in rhythm,
Race the oncoming night,
They chase through the streets of Manhattan.
Head-first humanity,
Pause at a light,
Then flow through the streets of the city.

    They seem oblivious
    To a soft spring rain,
    Like an English rain
    So light, yet endless
    From a leaden sky.

    The buildings are lost
    In their limitless rise.
    My feet catch the pulse
    And the purposeful stride.

I feel the sense of possibilities,
I feel the wrench of hard realities.
The focus is sharp in the city.

II

Wide-angle watcher
On life's ancient tales,
Steeped in the history of London.

Green and grey washes
In a wispy white veil
Mist in the streets of Westminster.
Wistful and weathered,
The pride still prevails,
Alive in the streets of the city.

    Are they oblivious
    To this quality?
    A quality
    Of light unique to
    Every city's streets.

    Pavements may teem
    With intense energy,
    But the city is calm
    In this violent sea.

  • Favourite Band: Genesis
  • Favourite Album From Favourite Band: Foxtrot / Selling England by the Pound (Virtual Tie)
  • Favourite Song From Favourite Album: Can Utility / Cinema Show
  • Favourite Member of Favourite Band: Tony Banks (Keyboards)
  • Favourite Cover Art From Favourite Band:
A Trick of the Tail (1976)
  • Favourite Live Song From Favourite Band: Supper's Ready ( on Genesis Archive Vol. 1)
  • Favourite Solo From Favourite Band: Steve Hackett at the end of "Los Endos"
  • Favourite Lyrics From Favourite Band:

    Carpet Crawlers (1974)

There is lambswool under my naked feet.
The wool is soft and warm,
Gives off some kind of heat.
A salamander scurries into flame to be destroyed.
Imaginary creatures are trapped in birth on celluloid.
The fleas cling to the golden fleece,
    Hoping theyll find peace.
Each thought and gesture are caught in celluloid.
Theres no hiding in my memory.
    Theres no room to void.

The crawlers cover the floor in the red ochre corridor.
For my second sight of people, theyve more lifeblood than before.
Theyre moving. Theyre moving in time to a heavy wooden door,
Where the needles eye is winking, closing in on the poor.
The carpet crawlers heed their callers:
Weve got to get in to get out
Weve got to get in to get out.

    Theres only one direction in the faces that I see;
Its upward to the ceiling, where the chambers said to be.
Like the forest fight for sunlight, that takes root in every tree.
They are pulled up by the magnet, believing that theyre free.
The carpet crawlers heed their callers:
Weve got to get in to get out
Weve got to get in to get out.

Mild mannered supermen are held in kryptonite,
And the wise and foolish virgins giggle with their bodies glowing bright.
    Through a door a harvest feast is lit by candlight;
Its the bottom of a staircase that spirals out of sight.
The carpet crawlers heed their callers:
Weve got to get in to get out
Weve got to get in to get out.

The porcelain mannikin with shattered skin fears attack.
The eager pack lift up their pitchers- the carry all they lack.
The liquid has congealed, which has seeped out through the crack,
And the tickler takes his stickleback.
The carpet crawlers heed their callers:
Weve got to get in to get out
Weve got to get in to get out.

  • Favourite Reason For Loving Favourite Band: Elegant, symphonic prog, with wonderful melodies, intense lyrics, a prog giant without constant soloing

Favorite Band: Genesis

Favorite Album:  Foxtrot

Favorite Song from Favorite Album: Supper's Ready

Favorite Member: Tony Banks

Favorite Album Cover: Foxtrot

Favorite Live Song: Medley - In the Cage/Cinema Show/Slippermen/Afterglow

Favorite Solo: Firth of Fifth

Favorite Lyric:  Ripples

Ripples...
Bluegirls come in every size
Some are wise and some otherwise,
They got pretty blue eyes.
For an hour a man may change
For an hour her face looks strange -
Looks strange, looks strange.

Marching to the promised land
Where the honey flows and takes you by the hand,
Pulls you down on your knees,
While you're down a pool appears.
The face in the water looks up,
And she shakes her head as if to say
That it's the last time you'll look like today.

Sail away, away
Ripples never come back.
Gone to the other side.
Sail away, away.

The face that launched a thousand ships
Is sinking fast, that happens you know,
The water gets below.
Seems not very long ago
Lovelier she was than any that I know.

Angels never know it's time
To close the book and gracefully decline,
The song has found a tale.
My, what a jealous pool is she.
The face in the water looks up
She shakes her head as if to say
That the bluegirls have all gone away.

Sail away, away
Ripples never come back.
They've gone to the other side.
Look into the pool,
Ripples never come back,
Dive to the bottom and go to the top
To see where they have gone
Oh, they've gone to the other side...

Sail away, away
Ripples never come back.
Gone to the other side.
Look into the pool,
The ripples never come back, come back,
Dive to the bottom and go to the top
To see where they have gone
They've gone to the other side

Favourite Band: Van der Graaf Generator

Favourite Album From Favourite Band: probably Godbluff, if I
had to choose.

Favourite Song From Favourite Album: Undercover Man

Favourite Member of Favourite Band: Peter Hammill

Favourite Cover Art From Favourite Band: Vital

Favourite Live Song From Favourite Band: Still Life

Favourite Solo From Favourite Band: VdGG wasn't about solos,
I'd have to go with Meruglyss III like BaldJean

Favourite Lyrics From Favourite Band: Humn, I'd say Lost I
guess

So here we are, or rather, here am I, quite alone;
I'm seeing things that were shared before, long ago;
my memory stretches and I am dazed.
You know I know
how good the time was and how I laughed.
Times have changed, now you're far away, I can't complain -
I had all my chances but they slipped right through my hands
like so much sand;
I know I'll never dance like I used to.

I'll just wait till day breaks upon the land and the sea,
hoping that I can catch all of the memories;
then I must crawl off upon my way,
all of me listening hard for the final words.
But there are none, the sunrise calls, I've lingered on
too close for comfort and I don't know quite why
I feel like crying -
I know we'll never dance like we used to.

I look up, I'm almost blinded
by the warmth of what's inside me
and the taste that's in my soul,
but I'm dead inside as I stand alone.

(The Dance in Frost)

I wore my moods like different sets of clothes
but the right one was never around
and as you left I heard my body ring
and my mind began to howl.
It was far to late to contemplate the meaning of it all;
You know that I need you, but somehow
I don't think you see my love at all.

At some point I lost you, I don't know quite how that was.
The wonderland lay in a coat of white, chilling frost;
I looked around and I found I was truly lost...
without your hand in mine I am dead.
Reality is unreal and games I've tried just aren't the same:
without your smile there's nowhere to hide
and deep inside
I know I've never cried as I'm about to ...

If I could just frame the words
that would make your fire burn
all this water now around me could be the love
that should surround me.

Looking out through the tears that blind me
my heart bleeds that you may find me
or at least that I can
forget and be numb,
but I can't stop, the words still come:
I love you.

Favourite Reason For Loving Favourite Band: This is an odd
question. The greatest vocalist the worrld has ever known "The
Jim iHendrix of the voice", the unique combination of
instruments and instantly recognizable sound. The fact that
with all their albums and all of Hammill's solo album sthere
hasn't been a bad track yet, I could go on...

Favourite Band: Gong
Favourite Album From Favourite Band: You
Favourite Song From Favourite Album: Master Builder
Favourite Member of Favourite Band: Pierre Moerlen
Favourite Cover Art From Favourite Band:

Favourite Live Song From Favourite Band: "Radio Gnome" in the version on "Gong Live etc."
Favourite Solo From Favourite Band: The sax solo of Didier Malherbe in the studio version of "Master Builder".
Favourite Lyrics From Favourite Band:
#top" name="thoughts - Thoughts For Naught
If you want to fly,
if you want to become a star
a superhero
You could try the ascension of the great pyramid of life
Counting again and again from one to nine
Approaching and pushing away infinity - O sweet absurdity!
But if you prefer that old silly number zero
You'll become a master of doing nothing - being nothing.
Favourite Reason For Loving Favourite Band: Has the best instrumentalists in prog on two positions: Pierre Moerlen on drums and Didier Malherbe on woodwinds. And Steve Hillage and Mike Howlett on guitar and bass are by no means slouches!

Favorite Band: Yes

Favorite Album:  Tales from Topographic Oceans

Favorite Song:  The Revealing Science of God (Well, actually I prefer both CTTE and Gates, but Revealing is my favorite from Topo.)

Favorite Member:  Jon Anderson or Rick Wakeman (Jon because he's the biggest creative force in the band, and Rick because he amuses me. )

Favorite Cover Art:

Favorite Live Song:  Oh, don't do this to me.  I'm going to have to say the Yessongs version of Perpetual Change because it is so different from (and so much better than) the original.

Favorite Solo:  The pipe organ/Minimoog/Hammond solo in CTTE.

Favorite Lyrics:  Oh man.  Once you figure out at least something of what the lyrics to CTTE mean they are quite clever, but for now I'll have to go with Gates of Delerium.

Stand and fight we do consider
Reminded of an inner pact between us
That’s seen as we go
And ride there
In motion
To fields in debts of honour defending

Stand the marchers soaring talons
Peaceful lives will not deliver freedom
Fighting we know,
Destroy oppression
The point to reaction
As leaders look to you attacking

Choose and renounce throwing chains to the floor
Kill or be killing faster sins correct the flow
Casting giant shadows off vast
Penetrating force
To alter via the war that seen
As frictions spans the spirits’ wrath ascending to redeem

Wars that shout in screams of anguish
Power spent passion bespoils our soul receiver
Surely we know.
In glory we rise to offer,
Create our freedom, a word, we utter a word.

Words cause our banner, victorious our day
Will silence be promised as violence display
The curse increased we fight the pow’r and live by it by day
Our gods awake in thunderous roars and guide
The leader’s hands in paths of glory to the cause

Listen should we fight forever
Knowing as we do know
Fear destroys?
Listen should we leave our children?
Listen our lives stare in silence
Help us now

Listen your friends have been broken
They tell us of your poison
Now we know
Kill them give them as they give us
Slay them burn their children’s laughter
On to hell

The fist will run
Grasp metal to gun
The spirit sings in crashing tones we gain the battle drum
Our cries will shrill the air will moan and crash into the dawn
The pen won’t stay the demon’s wings, the hour approaches
Pounding out the devil’s sermon

Soon oh soon the light
Pass within and soothe this endless night
And wait here for you
Our reason to be here

Soon oh soon the time
All we move to gain will reach and calm
Our heart is open
Our reason to be here

Long ago, set into rhyme

Soon oh soon the light
Ours to shape for all time, ours the right
The sun will lead us
Our reason to be here

Soon oh soon the light
Ours to shape for all time, ours the right
The sun will lead us
Our reason to be here

These step away from Jon's usual Andersonian mumbo jumbo, and make thier point very well.

Farovite Reason:  They sound like Genesis but with more tasteless, self-indulgent soloing!

I had so much fun with that first one that I'm going to do another for one of my second favorite bands:  Genesis.

Favorite album:  The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway

Favorite song:  In the Cage (Once again, I prefer a few songs over this, notably Supper's Ready and Firth of Fifth, but this is my favorite from Lamb.)

Favorite member:  Peter Gabriel (duh)

Favorite cover art:

Favorite live song:  The live version of Musical Box, because it's a brilliant song, and is more listenable than the terribly mixed studio version.

Favorite solo:  Tony in Firth of Fifth

Favorite Lyrics:  Supper's Ready, but they're too long to post here.  I like these, too:

Echoes of the broadway everglades,
With her mythical madonnas still walking in their shades:
Lenny bruce, declares a truce and plays his other hand.
Marshall mcluhan, casual viewin’, head buried in the sand.
Sirens on the rooftops wailing, but there’s no ship sailing.
Groucho, with his movies trailing, stands alone with his punchline
Failing.
Klu klux klan serve hot soul food and the band plays ’in the mood’
The cheerleader waves her cyanide wand, there’s a smell of
Peach blossom and bitter almonde.
Caryl chessman sniffs the air and leads the parade, he knows
In a scent, you can bottle all you made.
There’s howard hughes in blue suede shoes, smiling at the
Majorettes smoking winston cigarettes.
And as the song and dance begins, the children play at home
With needles; needles and pins.

Brilliantly clever!

Favorite reason:  They sound like Yes, but with less tasteless, self-indulgent soloing!

Oh yeah, and they have both the best frontman and best concept album to their name.

A Farewell To Kings

When they turn the pages of history
When these days have passed long ago
Will they read of us with sadness
For the seeds that we let grow
We turned our gaze
From the castles in the distance
Eyes cast down
On the path of least resistance

Cities full of hatred
Fear and lies
Withered hearts
And cruel, tormented eyes
Scheming demons
Dressed in kingly guise
Beating down the multitude
And scoffing at the wise

The hypocrites are slandering
The sacred halls of Truth
Ancient nobles showering
Their bitterness on youth
Can't we find
The minds that made us strong
Can't we learn
To feel what's right and wrong

Cities full of hatred
Fear and lies
Withered hearts
And cruel, tormented eyes
Scheming demons
Dressed in kingly guise
Beating down the multitude
And scoffing at the wise
Can't we raise our eyes
And make a start
Can't we find the minds
To lead us closer to the Heart

There coming over Charaton Bridge
Look do you see the man who is poor

will you tell me your name?
Rest awhile; call me your friend.
Please stay with me I'd like to help.
Then he said,
How can I speak when I'm dry and my
throat is burning. So bring me aid
and I'll answer your doubts.
Friend in need I'd like your help
Please take me home I'll stay with you.
Then said he fair Pantagruel
My name is Panurge and I have come
  from Hell.
Look at my friend
Look all around you
Look at my friend
Take all round you.
Hey, Friend
(Improvised foreign words in middle
section)
So brotherhood was made as their bond
Carried him home and provide for his
  needs
and his shelter; this day was done
as no other the like.
Faithfully their vow was made and from
that day they were as one.

Favourite Reason For Loving Favourite Band: Absolutely no one else sounds like them; brilliant, complex but completely unpretentious

Because it's a little hard to do Mike Oldfield (not having much good material live, and, being only one person, question 4 becomes a bit redundant ) and everyone else has already done Yes, Genesis, and Gentle Giant, I shall do another band which, although not my all-time desert-island favourite, is pretty dang good nonetheless:

Favourite Band: Jethro Tull
Favourite Album From Favourite Band: Heavy Horses (but there are close seconds, thirds, fourths and fifths)
Favourite Song From Favourite Album: Weathercock. Or Rover.
Favourite Member of Favourite Band: (Obviously) Ian Anderson.
Favourite Cover Art From Favourite Band:

Because there's so much to look at and read on the original LP (which folds out like a newspaper) that it really was worth hunting down.
Favourite Live Song From Favourite Band: I think they did a neat re-do of Beethoven's 9th sometime in the 70's - it was the second movement, and one of my favourite parts therein, and it was Tull redoing a classical thing, so I was like, "holy crap! This is clearly beyond awesome!" Then I discovered ELP and Steve Vai and realised that this 'borrowing-from-classical-music' sort of thing wasn't rare. But all the same.
Favourite Solo From Favourite Band: Flute Solo from Locomotive Breath (from Aqualung). That right there is what took me in.
Favourite Lyrics From Favourite Band: Several! But I think The Story of the Hare who Lost His Spectacles (from A Passion Play) wins out of its sheer pointlessness (and thus its necessity):

This is the story of the hare who lost his spectacles.
Owl loved to rest quietly whilst no one was watching.
Sitting on a fence one day, he was surprised when suddenly a kangaroo ran close by.
Now this may not seem strange, but when Owl overheard Kangaroo whisper to no one in particular,
"The hare has lost his spectacles," well, he began to wonder.

Presently, the moon appeared from behind a cloud and there, lying on the grass was hare.
In the stream that flowed by the grass a newt.
And sitting astride a twig of a bush a bee.

Ostensibly motionless, the hare was trembling with excitement,
for without his spectacles he appeared completely helpless.
Where were his spectacles? Could someone have stolen them? Had he mislaid them? What was he to do?

Bee wanted to help, and thinking he had the answer began:
"You probably ate them thinking they were a carrot."
"No!" interrupted Owl, who was wise.
"I have good eye-sight, insight, and foresight.
How could an intelligent hare make such a silly mistake?"
But all this time, Owl had been sitting on the fence, scowling!

A Kangaroo were hopping mad at this sort of talk.
She thought herself far superior in intelligence to the others.
She was their leader, their guru. She had the answer:
"Hare, you must go in search of the optician."
But then she realized that Hare was completely helpless without his spectacles.
And so, Kangaroo loudly proclaimed, "I can't send Hare in search of anything!"
"You can, guru, you can!" shouted Newt.
"You can send him with Owl."
But Owl had gone to sleep.
Newt knew too much to be stopped by so small a problem
"You can take him in your pouch."
But alas, Hare was much too big to fit into Kangaroo's pouch.

All this time, it had been quite plain to Hare that the others knew nothing about spectacles.

As for all their tempting ideas, well Hare didn't care.
The lost spectacles were his own affair.
And after all, Hare did have a spare a-pair.
A-pair.

Favourite Reason For Loving Favourite Band: I used to listen to these guys when I was just a kid (an even smaller neutrino!). Part of it is that they're *good*, and they had a flute as a main instrument which I thought was kind of cool, but the other part is just sentimentalism. My friends grew up with New Kids on the Block - I grew up with Tull.  So that's what happened to me!

Ahhh ... too much fun. Great idea, Mr. Press!!

Favourite Lyrics From Favourite Band:  mostly all of them, but oh well.....

Squonk

Like father like son
Not flesh nor fish nor bone
A red rag hangs from an open mouth.
Alive at both ends but a little dead in the middle,
A-tumbling and a-bumbling he will go.
All the King's horses and all the King's men
Could never put a smile on that face.

He's a sly one, he's a shy one
Wouldn't you be too.
Scared to be left all on his own.
Hasn't a, hasn't a friend to play with, the Ugly Duckling
The pressure on, the bubble will burst before our eyes.
All the while in perfect time
His tears are falling on the ground
BUT IF YOU DON'T STAND UP YOU DON'T STAND A CHANCE.

Go a little faster now, you might get there in time.

Mirror mirror on the wall,
His heart was broken long before he ever came to you.
Stop your tears from falling,
The trail they leave is very clear for all to see at night
all to see at night.

In season, out of season
What's the difference when you don't know the reason.
In one hand bread, the other a stone.
The Hunter enters the forest.
All are not huntsmen who can blow the huntsman's horn
By the look of this one you've not got much to fear.

Here I am, I'm very fierce and frightening
Come to match my skill to yours.
Now listen here, listen to me, don't you run away now
I am a friend, I'd really like to play with you.
Making noises my little furry friend would make
I'll trick him, then I'll kick him into my sack.
You better watch out... You better watch out.

I've got you, I've got you, you'll never get away.

Walking home that night
The sack across my back, the sound of sobbing on my shoulder.
When suddenly it stopped,
I opened up the sack, all that I had
A pool of bubbles and tears - JUST A POOL OF TEARS.

All in all you are a very dying race
Placing trust upon a cruel world.
You never had the things you thought you should have had
And you'll not get them now,
And all the while in perfect time
Your tears are falling on the ground.

The Squonk is of a very retiring disposition and due to its ugliness,
weeps constantly. It is easy prey for hunters who simply
follow a tear-stained trail. When cornered it will dissolve itself into tears.

True or False?

Favourite Reason For Loving Favourite Band:  Genesis has the most identifiable sound, and combines excellent songwriting and musicianship with deep, meaningful lyrics and moving instrumental passages.  The music of Genesis takes me to places where no other can.

Two faced woman with the two faced lies
I hope your two faced living made you satisfied
Tell me baby I was your only one
While you've been running around town with every mother's son

Told your story about the women like you
Told your story about the things you do
I used to think that you were sugar and spice
I should've listened to my mother's advice

CHORUS:
Kicked in the teeth again
Sometimes you lose, sometimes you win
Kicked in the teeth again
Ain't this misery ever gonna end?
And I've been kicked in the teeth
Kicked in the teeth again

Two faced woman, such a crying shame
Don't know nothing, you're all the same
You run around, hope you had your fun
You never know who's gonna win till the race been run
