What's your favorite NM solo album and after determining that how would you rank them.
For me I'd say Testimony 2 is my favorite.
And my rankings as of now (may be subject to change over time)

Testimony 2
One
Sola Scriptura
?
Testimony
Lifeline

For me One will always be number one.  After that, probably ?, Testimony 2, Sola Scriptura, Testimony, and Lifeline in that order.

I own Sola Scriptura and both Testimony and Testimony 2. If I have to choose between those 3, Sola Scriptura gets my vote by far.

'?' and 'Sola Scriptura' are both mindblowing. Not too keen on the 'Testimony' s and 'One' though. And don't even get me started on 'Lifeline'....

One has my favorite melodies. I love big epic melodies, so lots of love for "The Spirit and the Flesh" on One and "Mercy St. Revisited" on T2. The finales of those two songs are EPIC.

My favorite Neal Morse moments are on One. That album gets dragged down a bit by the sappier songs, though (i.e. Cradle to the Grave, Reunion). I can't listen to it all the way through like I can with ? or SS.

My answer changes all the time. I'll go with Sola Scriptura since that's been #1 in my head the longest, even though I've been playing One and ? more lately.

Do we still have to push sound? Maybe it's time to go back to composition as the driving force of new ground. — /forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=77686&PID=4142966" rel="nofollow - rogerthat

Sola Scriptura is my favourite followed by One.

One ans Sola Sciptura are at the top very closely followed by ?  actually I guess that depending on the moment you ask me I might name any of the 3 as my favourite.

I'm not so much impressed by neither T1, Lifeline or T2, all of them have good songs but fail as a complete album.

Yeah I would agree One has massive epic melodies and contains the wonderful The Creation, a favorite of mine. (not to mention Author of Confusion and The Separated Man) It is a wonderful concept album. But Morse is a master at the concept album I would say.  I would say that combined Testimony and Testimony 2 are beyond wonderful. T2 gave me a much greater appreciation for T1. But they are def. his most personal and passionate albums, he's pouring his heart out. Although all his albums are very passionate and heartfelt.

Very hard to rank his albums, they're all very good

No love for Structural Damage....easy choice for me, it's the only solo Morse album I have!  Nice variety, great playing, groovy compositions....check of the classically bent Slice of Time!

I'm stil digesting the late 70s Dregs stuff.

What about his first two solo albums?  Anybody heard those?  I guess they don't count (I've never heard them, so I can't include them).

His first two solo albums reminded me of Bon Jovi.  I like them, but neither will have too much appeal to most on PA.

Yeah I have his first called "Neal Morse" it's a nice poppy upbeat album. Some prog not much though. I count Testimony as his first official solo album.

I'm planning on ordering Testimony soon. I'm excited in part because i have only heard him on youtube in Spock's Beard and off of SMPT:e, which I own. I'm also excited because it'll be my first purchase of so called "Christian" prog. Most worship music bores me for listening purposes, except in church. I'm interested to see what he does with the subject matter.

Definitely ?.

Of all his albums that I own, it's the most consistently good. I feel as though the last ~15-20 minutes of both Sola Scriptura and One are a bit stretched out and overdone and could be done without. The end of ? is also stretched out but it's not as bad, and there it's maybe only the last 5-10 minutes.

I just found One too cheesy. Especially the orchestral parts of The Creation I thought were too over the top. Authour of Confusion and The Separated Man I love, but I hardly ever listen to the rest of the album.

Yeah I can see what you mean by overdone, but I think that's perfect since Morse is reflecting Christ in his music. the work God does can seem overdone and too much. But it's great,  His will and his work blows my mind constantly today. I went to a campus crusade conference this past week and one of the speakers who is leader of Cru is Ethiopia told us that in 50 days his team of like 10 000 workers shared the Gospel (through many methods) with over 50 million people in cities in Africa. Now that seems way way overdone, but wow!!! That's so amazing... What He can do through people. But anyway.

Oh yeah and it makes me so happy to have Christian Prog in the world, Thanks Morse!!!

1. Sola and ? pretty much tied as my favourite
2. Testimony 2
3. Songs From November (not prog but I really like it)
4. One
5. Momentum

Of the rest, Grand Experiment seems a bit "prog by numbers", the first Testimony is too long (though I love his condensed Testimedley that he does live), and I haven't heard the whole of Lifeline but the songs I have heard don't impress too much. I haven't heard his first two solo albums at all.
