Ok ... that was the most incredible thing I've ever seen... well close enough.. and Dave was not only singing great.. but playing exceptional. Roger looked like he was having the time of his life... but what was up with them not showing Rick at all???? I'm crying as I type.. I had chill bumps all the way thru, but if I could blow up MTV I would right now.. because their frigging vjs came on to tell a stupid story right in the middle of Comfortably Numb and then cut out to a commercial right in the middle of David's solo.... that is absolutely unforgiveable!!!!!!!! I hope someone gets this as a download soon so I can see the rest of it!!!! ------------- THIS IS ELP

| Twas good, not great...IMO...a Floyd reunion/following tour would be ideal but most likely extortionately priced. Evidence perhaps being the "No More Excuses" sign flashed above stage? They definitely still "have it" but..."timeless and classic" as they may be I feel there's a lot more interesting music to be listening to/watching. No offense to fans...counting myself. |

Fantastic performance - until Roger started to "sing"... from then on, it was just great. They all looked like they were enjoying working together again - and the overall sound can't lie; they rocked! I thought Razorlight and Keane were excellent too - and Madonna was surprisingly good. Mariah was as good as we might all expect - and Robbie was surprisingly awful, even given that he's a talentless t**ser. The Who rocked - but I think Razorlight stole some of their thunder. Great event! |

three guys' (arm motion to the rest of the band) and dedicated the song

Excellent show, an hour or two more would have been nice tho.
Roger really looked like he was enjoying himself up there, it was great
to see. I hope this means the band is on good terms, because they
looked as if they were getting along. I was watching the internet broadcast, and in the middle of comfortably numb it came on the tv, so i started watching that..AND THEY CUT OUT AFTER MONEY! Only an american tv network would cut a god damn FLOYD REUNION half short. That really chapped my ass. I hope i can find the video because i want to see the rest of comfortably numb. -------------

Nick did get a bit carried away at one point and stumbled all over Gilmore's guitar solo with some unecessary fills on Comfortably Numb,but other than that did fine.Great show by Floyd although Waters voice is now totally 'shot' ..old age taking its toll.

That was probably the most amazing thing I have ever seen. I was on the brink of tears, and let it be known that I have never cried for any song, ever. I am not ashamed to say that, had I been there, I would have been in a crumpled heap on the floor, paralyzed with emotion and with tears streaming down my cheeks. Floyd were the best on the show. Nick Mason fits in to make Floyd music what it is. Someone like Neil Peart would just completely ruin the essence of Floyd. PINK FLOYD belong to eternity. You have missed their concert performance (just as I) but the most important thing remains intact -- their music is the property of the universe. I cannot state the same about any other musician (musical band). They did not 'invent' their music but 'discovered' it. PINK FLOYD music is just as Maxwell equations of electrodynamics. In the first case the discoverers are: Waters, Gilmour, Wright, Mason and in the second Maxwell. But the music and the equations live independently from their discoverers, although the discoverers will be remembered as long as manking lives. All other music is just custom-made and is more the property of its discoverers than the property of the world. PINK FLOYD is the life philosophy. When I see somebody knowingly wearing a prism on the T-shirt I know we are one person. |

Well I TIVO'd both MTV and VH1, but Im sure there cut to hell, thats what I was seeing earlier in the day with other bands. How frustrating!! ive been a floyd fan for over 20 years started to listen to them at the time they split i never thought id see the day when they played together i must say i was absolutely blown away i had a BIG lump in my throat last night i can tell you AMAZING !!!!!!!

I watched it live on the glorious Beeb, then switched over to Nederlands 3 who were broadcasting the whole thing with a 15 minute delay, and got to see most of it again. A really historical moment in prog... now if only Gabriel could have got it together with Hackett, and the other three t**sers....... I saw it accidently live from Finnish tv-network, and it was great! Sadly Syd wasn't with them... The Who was also truly great, and "Helter skelter" was a great performance! |

absolutely fantastic performance. Saw it in a bar on a big screen. Funny thing was that during other bands people kept talking etc.. But when Pink Floyd came an eery silence fell over the whole bar and everybody was watching/listening, amazing ! Now I want more Live floyd, what live album do you guys recommend ? |

So much said already, but I wanna say my bit! I have to say, after having experienced some terrible bootlegs and being unimpressed that recent shows have augmented the band with enough 'safe' musicians to cover up the originals I was expecting an emotional if averagely musical performance. What can I say? Fabulous, impressive, inspiring and wonderful. I recorded this (hey, mask off finally, I was playing a Pink Floyd open-air show myself which finished minutes before the real thing walked on stage at Hyde Park) and watched the video this morning. Yep I scrutinised carefully and this band were playing and singing for real. And the musicianship was the best I've ever heard them live since the Pompeii period. OK there was a click track for Com Num giving us the orchestration (just like the old Wall shows!) and I heard ONE drumfill from Mason which contained more tom hits than I heard (maybe a second drummer hidden or a couple of fills on the backing track) but hats off, these guys were PLAYING! TOGETHER! STRIPPED DOWN! And it was a significant moment being made in rock history. I agree. Amazing show. I didn't expect a great performance (they haven't played together for 24 years!) but fortunately I was very wrong! Well, to be honest I think 'Breathe' (not a good song to play out of album context) was a bit disappointing but after this everything went really good. 'Comfortably Numb' (especially the second guitar solo) was my favourite moment.

I agree with most of you. I didn't expect them to be great but they were. It was moving to see they still could manage after all those years. The guitarlicks of Gilmour were sounding astonishing and Mason wasn't bad at all. Waters was enthousiastic but suffered from a bad voice, he usually sounds better (just listen to the "In the flesh" dvd), a pitty the people of the bbc didn't knew Wright was also a member of the band. I waited 20 years for this reunion but I never believed it actually would ever happen. But it did and it was brilliant which was quite unbelieveable knowing they only had a couple of weeks for rehearsals. I had a lump in my troat during "Wish you were here". To me it is clear this was a one off momentum. They will never perform again in this line-up, I think. Waters tried to be friendly towards the others but Gilmour didn't even look at him. You could feel this wasn't a band anymore but three ex members and a stranger. But I hope I'm wrong off course... Also enjoyed The Who, Sting and the ex Beatle, a great day, the politicians should stop to use the south of the world for the profits of the north and let's hope they will after live 8 (great name anyway). |

I think you're wrong.. Roger looked happy as a clam... and Dave looks just like he always did. In every live PF show I've ever seen, Dave barely moves, hardly ever smiles.. because what he plays is so intense, his concentration is on the music.. not on whats happening around him. This was the most I've seen him smile and move during a show in the last 20 years... and he and Roger have been conversing for a couple of weeks now... seems to be going well..

To me it is clear this was a one off momentum. They will never perform again in this line-up, I think. Waters tried to be friendly towards the others but Gilmour didn't even look at him. You could feel this wasn't a band anymore but three ex members and a stranger. But I hope I'm wrong off course... I think Gilmour was just concentrating - the man has to play lead guitar and sing most of the time, plus playing again with Waters - I'm sure they didn't have much rehearsal time (not that they need it!). If you ever see Gilmour perform, he rarely smiles. He's just a different type of performer than Waters. Sadly to say, I'll have to agree with you about them not performing together again. I'm not getting my hopes up for a reunion tour but if there was one, I'll be first in line to get tickets! ------------- The more that things change, the more they stay the same. Got to be the highlight of the year. Waters seemed genuinely happy to be playing with his old band mates again. They're all a bit older and bit wiser now, so who knows, a tour perhaps? Did anyone else notice the banner in the crowd which read somehting like "Pink Floyd back together, look there's a flying pig!". |
