I'd like to add the new compilation out on Kavus Torabi's Believer's Roast label but none of the VA categories are entirely appropriate. It's not a tribute or a concept album so both of those are ruled out, but it's not strictly speaking a label sampler either as half the artists featured are signed to labels other than BR. Thoughts?

I think various is a close to a fitting hole as you can get for your peg so go ahead and stick it in samplers or concepts.  You can try and stick it into tributes but I don't think it will fit.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I'd put The Central Element under Various artists (Concept Albums and Themed Compilations).  There is a concept and theme behind making the compilation.

Gah. I've just added it to Label Samplers. Is there any way to move it?

Pretty sure admin can move it (or at least they can delete and re-do in another category), and I suggest you PM one of them.  I was looking to see if I could do it myself, but I don't see an option to move such albums from one category to another.

Mm. I popped into the admin section to give it a go myself and had similar issues. I'll send a PM their way.

Bloody good album, incidentally.

^ It can be done by assigning the album to another artist ID (and the three VA categories are in fact band entries in what the database is concerned).

How do I assign it another artist ID though?

I don't remember how much has my Admin Panel as an Admin has changed compared to the one I had as a Special Collab, but right now "Artist" (with an editable field containing the artist ID) is the first item displayed for me when I go to update an album. Next are Title, Type, Year, Release Order, etc.

The current artist ID is 2633, and you can get the other one from the page's URL.

I've checked and I can't edit that field. I can do all the others, but clearly only admin are allowed to edit the artist field.

I moved it for you, but the cover needs updating again, I'm afraid. I could do it myself, but I'm getting an internal server error.

EDIT: Know why I got the cover error, not thinking, I'll fix it.  Done.

So it's moved and cover added again.

Strange, I thought I did that a couple of times as a SC, but now I'm not sure... Will investigate.

Many thanks. Sincere apologies for all the flappery. I'm going to crack on with adding William D. Drake now. Hopefully that will go through without a hitch!

No problem.  It's cool, I've learned, or, more correctly as I now recall, relearned something. It's an album I want to get, and am glad that William D. Drake is being added.

Best be quick about it then, 'cause there's only 500 of the buggers!

And yes, I've been meaning to add him for weeks now. I had all his albums in documents all formatted PA-style and just needed to polish off the biography, but then my PC died a spectacular death and I've had to start all over again. Cry

For future reference the http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=73146&PID=3942764#3942764" rel="nofollow - Various Artists Policies section of the Site Policies and Guidelines answers your initial question.
