What's your favourite instrumental song by DT? This is about original instrumental compositions not versions.

Difficult, went with Erotomania. But I think most of the "oldies" are very equal (include ytse jam & hell's kitchen).

If you're going to include parts of song, shouldn't you include the instrumental sections of metropolis and learning to live?

Thanks !! Your topics always so good and informative. I like you talk.

Instrumental song? A bit of an oxymoron.

Stream of Consciousness ans Erotomania for me, great pieces

The Dance of Eternity is absolutely nuts! One of the most complicated pieces I've heard. Stream of Consciousness is a close second for me.

DoE hasn't kept its zest over time.

Overture 1928! My favourite DT song of all time.

That's tough. I really like the two from Scenes. But Erotomania is such a kicker so
i'll go with it! (SOC is too)

Hell's Kitchen closely followed by Overture 1928.

I didn't think Stream of Consiousness would be winning this (so far). That's absolutley my favourite. One of my favourite DT songs overall. It's really one great musical passage after another.

This is like lining up a bunch of really hot models and saying, "Now which one do you want to bang the most?". Hard choice...
I'd have to go with Stream of Consciousness, after a lot of deliberation.

I don't know but like Erotomania I feel defines the term Dream Theater. It is a very dreamy atmospheric piece. Very otherworldly!!! It's like your dreaming and sitting in this very ethereal and atmospheric, yet gothic theater. At least that's what I feel like when I listen to it ha ha!

That one where JP plays a solo then Rudess plays a solo, then JP plays another solo. Then they both solo in unison.

That one rocks.

Can't "vote" but my choice probably would have been erotomania, closely followed by Stream of Consciousness. Dance of Eternity really sounds soulless to me ...

The Dance of Eternity or Erotomania. Although I saw Ytse Jam live a few moths ago and it was really amazing as well. If I could vote I'd go for The Dance.
