In no particular order: Van Der Graaf Generator, Hatfield and the North, Caravan, Curved Air, Jethro Tull, The Enid. Just a few that spring to mind...

Hi! Just see you have an acquired taste! Hope i can help you. The problem is the etc., i do not know what's more you are listening to. Desconsidering your etc.,i highly recomend you-not necessarily in that order-(to make things easier i will list you two or theree albums of each) Camel(starts with Mirage or Snow Goose),ELP(Trology , Brain Salad Surgery and ELP),Van Der Graaf(H to he , Grey Aerosol Machine or Pawn Hearts),Yes(starts with Going for the One, Close to the Edge and Tales),Rick Wakeman(Journey to the Centre of the Earth , No Earthly Connection, The six wives) , Refugee (very good but also underrated band, although they just have one album),King Crinson( In the Court , Red and Lark Tongues in Aspic) ,Jethro Tull(Thick as a Brick , Benefit and Aqualung), Procol Harum(Shine on Brightly , Grand Hotel),Triumvirat(Old Loves Die Hard and Spartacus),Neschwanstein(they just have one album, very hard to find, but it worths),PFM(Per Un Amico and Chocolate Kings),Eloy(Ocean,Inside and Eloy Live), Solaris ( i just do not remember the name of the album from 1984, but is simply amazing), all of them with volume level at the highest(specially Yes and ELP)-There a many more , but i think it's enough for a while , although i do not know which of those bands are included in your etc. Have a nice time and enjoy them!

When you say "updating" do you mean you want to get into some modern prog bands like Flower Kings, Spocks Beard or Arena and get out of the 70s?

Best of 2006 that I've heard:
PFM-Stati Di Immaginazione
Zenit-Surrender (Best "unknown" album)
Oaksenham - Conquest of Pacific
2007:
Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon
La Torre Del Alchimista - Neo
