Subject: What happens after a submission?
Date Posted: September 14 2011 at 02:55
Dear all,
I submitted the info on a folk rock band about 2 months ago using procedure #2 as indicated here:
http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=51990
So far I haven't heard anything on this submission. Checking the latest additions thread there's no mention of it.
How can I know the status of this submission? Is it still being considered by the Admin or has it been rejected?
Thank you,
Luís

Hi Luís, You've posted a link to the Band Admission Procedure... more helpful would have been the name of the particular band you suggested. I've done a search and can't find your post. I've also checked back 35 pages of suggestion threads and can't find your post (as far back as January 2011.) I might well be missing something, but just in case... what band did you suggest?

I think Luis made a suggestion via email. Is that right?
What was the name of the band? They might be under evaluation, or even added already - but we can't tell without the name.

The submission is put "on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'."

Oh, and there's a 10 dollar penalty for opening the door too. Opening it and taking a look at the contents warrants buying enough beer to the entire collab team to get them into a happy drunken stupor ;-)

Hello everyone,
Another month has went by and no news. Is there any way I can help speeding up the revision process?
Thank you,
Luís

An update on the status of this submission would be enough. But thank you anyway :)

The prog folk team has rejected DAZKARIEH unfortunately.

I also submitted a band called Calandrinon to Prog Folk well over 6 months ago. Could someone please check on it? If it's been rejected no problem - it probably was a borderline case, but... please inform me!!!!

^ They need one more positive vote to be cleared for addition, as far as I understand.
I encourage everyone to contact the team members directly in such situations. The name of team members can be found after the genre definition on each respective category page.

Speaking of prog folk team, I was told that The Nocturnes were probably cleared, like, in March, and they have yet to be added. When I contacted Bob (also in March) I never got an answer

I think this is unfortunate too. I believe they focused on the earlier records instead of the latest, which are rock. Any way I could the team can be talked to a different conclusion?
Thanks.

The prog folk team consists of http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=325" rel="nofollow - Hugues , http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=4080" rel="nofollow - Bob and http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=11349" rel="nofollow - Ken , PM whomever you feel like. Or make a thread in general music section where you can make a case for their progressiveness (preferably with samples)

No. After a submission the referee declares the other guy the winner. The loser then sneak up on the winner and hits him over the head with a chair. Pandemonium ensues.

Is the band submission procedure referred to by the OP still correctly reflecting the procedure the team members prefer? The procedure's not updated since September, 2008. And I seem to have noticed that most submissions/suggestions are made by creating a thread in this forum.
However, as this thread shows, there might be a need for a revision in the procedures, and in particular what concerns transparency and insight into the submission process, as this is not the first time someone calls for feedback. I, for one, have made 11 suggestions (in this forum) during the last couple of years, all of which I have no idea where are in the process, if at all.
I am sometimes referred to progfreak.com to follow the process. But this, as I understand it, is no official tool giving an overview of the work in all of the teams, or of all the submissions?

What usually seems to happen is that if someone hasn't heard any progress regarding a suggestion they made within a month or so (sometimes sooner) they 'bump' the topic in this forum. This seems to pretty well guarantee getting an update, either by one of the forum monitors or a member of the team who have been given the task of evaluating the artist. This procedure seems to work ok from what I have seen so far. Not all teams use progfreak, however - Prog Metal, Post/Math, RIO/Avant, Psyche, Heavy, Crossover & Neo do use it, Eclectic, Symphonic, JRF and RPI all have used it in the past, but no longer do. The other teams have never used it as far as I know. I wish all teams used this facility. I feel it is an excellent tool which gives us all a chance to follow the progress of our suggestions, but I can also understand why some team members might perhaps feel uncomfortable having their voting choices made 'public' in this way.

All I know is a submission given through the right channels is checked thoroughly by the specific genre team.
eg: Symphonic Team did receive a submission yesterday. We, the team, checked out the music, vote YES, added the band bio, the albums, the reviews later. It took 2 days.
