A few months ago my Fostex recorder broke and I've finally gotten enough money to replace it.  However as I would only EVER use my mixer to bus things over to my computer I've decided that using an audio interface as part of the computer would be superior to another portable mixer.  So upon looking into this I remember that I don't know anything about computers really and should seek help elsewhere before buying another terrible mixer.

I'm looking for something with a minimum of 8 inputs at once, and it ABSOLUTELY MUST come up as separate files on the computer so that I can mix it all down the way I want at a later time.  I use a relatively recent Mac if that matters.  Other than not wanting to pay in the thousands I have no more specific requests.  So thank you in advance for any help you can offer.  Ask away with questions because I didn't know what information to give.

Note: Though I'm not amazing with computers I AM a pretty experienced musician and have actually recorded quite a bit. and mixed things down with pretty good quality.

This was done with only two hours or so of time, so I'm not completely lost or anything---  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fU3dJ7SSVy0" rel="nofollow - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fU3dJ7SSVy0

I have the Edirol FA-101, and it would work OK for you I guess.
It's not expensive, 10in-10out...

Well judging by the overwhelming amount of responses I guess I'll look into that...

Sorry, didn't respond because I know nothing about Mac's, what they can interface to or what software supports them. The Behringer FCA202 looks adequate and has a firewire I/F.

What?
