I think his two albums could fit in either one of these categories, though he is best known for his behind the scenes work in songwriting though he did chart in 1995 with the hit "In the House of Stone and Light".

Sorry but I can't check his samples, there's so much crap on his myspace than my browsers freezes when I try to open it.
