Kasper Rosa is comprised of J Ryan McCormick, Steven Butler, Dave Shannon and James 'Tree' Bruce… the same 4 men who in the winter of 2009, locked themselves in an art college lecture theater for 2 weeks and wrote a 5 track EP. This progressive post-metal band has influences ranging from Oceansize and Mastodon through to Opeth, Porcupine Tree and Incubus.

The band's experimental take on recording material has gained them credible reputation in their native city of Belfast, along with the close relationship between every single member of the KR team. With the help of full-time friend and producer Clark Phillips (Bat Cave Studios) this family of industry misfits is currently laying the foundations for a project that is due for release in 2012.

KR have been packing-out gigs and receiving praise from their peers since their inception, so it was no surprise that local promotion company Strange Victory invited them to support Seattle favorites Earth (Sub Pop Records). Only a few months free of the creative womb, the boys added quickly to their growing impact on the circuit with a tour alongside English rockers Alright The Captain - this particular tour resulted in the signing of their next release (EP2) to Field Records (LaFaro, Maybeshewill, You Slut! and Public Relations Exercise) after an impressive performance at the renowned Chameleon Art's Cafe in Nottingham.

On the media side of things they have been asked to record live sessions with Rory McConnell's BBC Introducing and Stephen McAuley's Electric Mainline, as well as performing for various podcasts around the country. The band performed with 65daysofstatic at Mandela Hall in Belfast, and launched their first single CORONAL MASS EJECTION at a showcase event, with support from English soundscapers Vessels. Said release will coincide with the band's first ever video from the talented local director Tristan Crowe, and will be available on iTunes and Spotify from February 24th.

Throughout the rest of 2010 Kasper Rosa toured their wares extensively along the length and breadth of the UK, promoting EP2 and spreading the good word, including shows with A Plastic Rose, Axis of, Maybeshewill and Ozric Tentacles.

Kasper Rosa’s release - EP2 - is an intricate and epic journey that combines the best of post-metal, prog and rock, which leaves you with something undeniably addictive and beautiful. Songs like “Good Luck With David” are over 11-minutes and convey gorgeous melodic journeys, not far from bands like the legendary Aereogrammeand Mogwai. Others like “Team Building Exercise” infuses the band’s love of rock and metal with nods to bands like Deftones and Tool. These boys are flying the flag for Northern Irish music, and EP2 is one of the finest things you’ll hear this year.
