Ages ago on this very website I saw a review of an album by a female artist, wondrful thought I, must checkout some of her stuff. But of course by the next time I thought about it I'd completely forgotten who she was ! I've racked my brains to no avail

So:

Female solo artist
British ( I think )
very folk influenced
lots of electric violin
some tracks extending out to 25 minutes odd, including on called summer I think

Ring any bells ?

The only name I can come up with Sonja Kristina who is the lead singer of Curved Air but she has also released at least one solo album. She is certainly folk influenced.

Hmm. Sonja's solo albums aren't included in the PA database

Another name that springs to mind, is Brigit Wishart - she's worked with violinists Simon House and Cyndee Lee Rule, but apart from her appearances on Hawkwind albums, she's not in the PA database either.

...So, I'm puzzled - there are not that many English solo female artists here - Well... Kate Bush, Sally French, Sally Oldfield... Ermm

Cary Grace has a song called Summer but its only 10 minutes and her music isn't very folky but I thought I mention it just in case.

She has some sort of Indie band called Earth Born. I think Alan Davey as well as Richard Chadwick had something to do with it as well. Anybody? As for this mystery singer with the violin player sounds like Sonja Kristina to me. Renate Kanup? Too far out.
