Selling England By The Pound remains the most rated album on this site.

For a while it had slowly sunk down to third after a series of coincidental 2-3 star reviews.

It jumped back up to the top spot, as it always does, without any particularly abnormal number of 5-stars.

Thick as a Brick and Close to the Edge have had, if anything, more positive reviews than ever, recently.

Yet SEBTP crawls back up every time.

It makes me wonder if something 'fishy' is going on! Shocked

As deserving as the album is of a high rating.... such activity seems 'engineered' to my eyes.

Yes, haven't you heard? All Prog Reviewers and Collaborators and Admins can manipulate the Top 100 Albums every week.

It's supposed to be a secret, but you can call myself an infiltrated guy in the Collab Zone, so shhh...

If I can just throw this out there, have you ever considered Decaf?

Go on, admit it - you're Ian Anderson in disguise aren't you?!

Don't be paranoid mate, Selling.... is way better than Thick.... - IMHO.

It's Phil Collins. He keeps joining under various pseudonyms and giving it 5 star reviews.

No way! He hates the prog albums.  He's the one boosting the last few albums he was on.

No, that's just part of his evil plan.

I wonder why Selling England is up there in the first place. There's 3 songs that everyone likes, yet the other 5 tracks are generally considered average or are disliked. Confused It seems that some abuse the 5-star rating.

^ I disagree, it is 5 star from start to finish. If that opinion is "abuse" well any opinion is also.

Ratings rankings are just for amusement purposes.  They are kind of like the economy, they go up they go down and no one knows the hell why or how.

Yes, it's brilliant from start to finish. Expect maybe "More Fool Me", which I normally skip.

Correct, it's brilliant from start to finish apart from one track. Or, to put it another way, it's brilliant up to More Fool Me and from The Battle of Epping Forest onwards. Is that ok?

More Fool Me and The Battle Of Epping Forrest are what I would consider "weak" tracks.   I despise that term so excuse me while I go and vomit.  So snipe those out...

Stop it.

In defence of the much aligned "More Fool Me", it's not that bad, in fact the chorus is quite enjoyable. I just feel it's on the wrong album.

I think, really, that the album is brilliant from start to finish. "More Fool Me" the necessary break among so much prog-rock... Now if some people just can't stand a 3-minute song made with total economy of resources, well, that explains things... Tongue
