Precedent was set by the PMT who added Rudess&Petrucci as separate artist even though both were included as solo artists - so when Rudess did another collaboration it was only natural to add that as yet another seperate entry.... then someone comes along and add the album under Rudess solo.

There's a similar problem with the damn Sylvian/Fripp collaboration: The First Day and Damage are listed under Sylvian (after much buggering about moving reviews) then just as we think we've got that all sorted,  http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=9612" rel="nofollow - Jean The Birdman is now listed under Fripp.Ouch

I took that as a tongue in cheek remark.

Moved "Jean The Birdman" to Sylvian:  http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=9612" rel="nofollow - http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=9612  and changed the cover (existing one belonged to 3-track single).

Jean the Birdman has two different covers because it was sold as two seperate discs.

Rudess & Petrucci as a double act was just a one-off live performance. Personally I don't think it should have been listed as a seperate "band" at all since they have no Studio recordings, but that is by-the-by as we don't delete artists, however in general I believe collaborations should have seperate entries if they have Studio albums.

" album.asp?id=8566" rel="nofollow - An Evening With John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess " was moved from Prog Metal to Xover because it isn't Metal, so the PMT are no longer involved.

Consistency is a problem here - Fripp & Sylvian is filed under Sylvian; Fripp & Eno have a seperate band age; Fripp & Summers is filed under Fripp; Fripp & Toyah is filed under Fripp; Nine Horses is filed under Sylvian; Sylvian and Czukay is filed under Sylvian.

Anyhoo - while anyone can add an album I can't see this changing anytime soon.

Oh yeah, we had two of these: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=32165" rel="nofollow - http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=32165  - we've only got one now Smile

I agree Rudess - Petrucci doesn't need a separate entry. We did not delete artists before, maybe it's time to start? Smile

As for Sylvian - Fripp, Fripp & Eno, Fripp & others, Hensley - Wetton etc. Quite a long time ago I discussed the idea of, as I called it, "shared" albums with Easy Livin. We agreed then that it is not so easy to implement while the number of such mutual albums is not so big. Now we see it is not so small.

I explain the idea.
Let's take, for example, some Sylvian - Fripp album. Now it's in Sylvian discography.
1. Imagine, we have some "Share" button for each album in Admin area.
2. Clicking this button opens the list of artists. Let's choose Fripp.

After this:
1. The album should be shown on both artists' pages.
2. If someone rates or reviews it on one page, the rating or review appears on another artist's page automatically.

Obviously, there could be more than 2 artists involved.

What do you think about this? Is it worth to suggest it to M@X?
