Dont you think Fountain Of Lamneth sounds naff these days?

I have the remastered Cd,which is probably the most successful of all the Rush remasters,but still FOL does not stand the test of time.....

I really like FOL. It certainly is not the best Rush song, and it's not the best song on Caress of Steel, and it doesn't compare to any of the other epics that Rush had, but still I find it really enjoyable. It was like a warm up for 2112.

Caress of Steel is my favorite Rush album cover, too.

Does audioscrobbler differentiate between 'versions' of songs? (i.e. Live and studio let's say)

And also, does it recognize 'bootlegged' or 'rarity' songs? And what about mispelled songs on your media player? (happens often with dowloaded material)

@Cluster One
audioscrobbler plugin reads info like title, author, album and length in audio file tag

I think, but I'm no sure, songs with exactly same artist (or with mispelled names but moderate* to be the same, like Anglagard and Änglagård) AND same title appear together, also in the case with different album and length (I think this is useful for audioscrobbler "sister service" http://www.last.fm/ - http://www.last.fm/ bundled, and usable, with same account)

IMPORTANT: audioscrobbler plugin reads only info in tags, not filename, so fles without tags are not processed

so it's important have correct tags

a useful free resource to tag files is http://musicbrainz.org/ - http://musicbrainz.org/ to detect automatically tags also for files without tags or correct filenames (musicbrainz uses a database built with users submission)

*= moderation is an audioscrobbler feature currently not more available to correct mispelled artist (not title!)

goodbye

Not for me, because I put any extra info (live, acoustic, etc.) in the "Comment" tag, instead of "Title".

Tag it and it'll recognise anything.

I tried the musicbrainz; even created an account, so on and so on. Even though an account has been created, it won't allow me to log in (very strange) and I can't start 'tagging'. After 10-15 minutes of wasting my time, I have subsequently deleted this program from my compie as it's not working or being 'recognized' or whatever.

It's been a few days now. I also noticed that audioscrobbler isn't 'scrobbling' anything for/from my profile. (For others as well in the Progarchives group) Yet others who have subscribed after me have had their music 'scrobbled'.

(Quickly losing interest in this, especially if it is more trouble than it is worth )

@Cluster One

for musicbrainz problems, I don't know...
for audioscrobbler, I think you not have write down your audioscrobbler username and password in audioscrobbler plugin preferences in your music player

I say so because in your page at http://www.audioscrobbler.com/user/Cluster%20one/ - http://www.audioscrobbler.com/user/Cluster%20One/ , I read "Plugin ID: , Version:"
when you have entered your username and password you should read something like "Plugin ID: wa2, Version: 1.1.9" (in my case), e.g. if you go at http://www.audioscrobbler.com/user/Snow%20Dog/ - http://www.audioscrobbler.com/user/Snow%20Dog/ (it's another member of our group, just joined to audioscrobbler, so Tracks played are 0 so far) you read anyway "Plugin ID: wmp, Version: 1.1.8"

another note:
your "Weekly Track Chart" and "Weekly Artist Chart" are updated every sunday/monday (depending your time zone), your "Top Tracks" and "Top Tracks" are updated without a precise time range (depending also by load on server)

I hope to help you...
goodbye

IMPORTANT NOTE TO PROPERLY USE AUDIOSCROBBLER (shortly AS)

• create an AS account at http://www.audioscrobbler.com - http://www.audioscrobbler.com
• download correct plugin for your music player at http://www.audioscrobbler.com/download.php - http://www.audioscrobbler.com/download.php
• install AS plugin and IMPORTANT configure it!

in winamp case, in main window press ctrl+p and select "Plugins\Media library" (in case of media library option at installation request), in right part, after selecting "AudioScrobbler for Winamp", you should see a similar picture:

AudioScrobbler Plugin for Winamp

your AS username and password must be inserted in first 2 fields (marked in blue), and saved

in Windows Media Player case, the previous screen can be found in menu "Tools\Plugins" and selecting "Background", now in right part you can see AS plugin, select "Properties" and insert your data (to work, AS plugin must be checked (green marked))

AudioScrobbler Plugin for Windows Media Player

• play something (if prog is better  )

now all should work and the plugin is "scrobbling" and you can go in your AS page to see it!

sometimes can be high load on server, but don't worry, the plugin caches all, and will submit your data later!
in this case, you don't read "last response ok", but  "failed", or something similar

AudioScrobbler ERROR

goodbye

Snow Dog has too many friends, the continuing handshaking is interfering the scrobbling, please lose some of your friends to enable scrobbling to commence.

I don't know how "tweakable" the forum software is ... but it would be nice if we could supply a "playlist URL" in the profile information. The Playlist link could then be shown by the system just below the avatar, with a uniform look & feel. So we would no longer have to use the signature for the playlist link, which consumes a lot of the available signature characters.

be patient. sometimes it's very slow.
check your plug-in log in your mp3 player, if it's logged there, it has been sent and is logged in their servers.

@Tony R

in particular for ProgArchives forum, you should go in "Settings page", select "Edit profile" in the control panel and in "Signature" entry insert your link:

http://www.denness.net/scrobblersig/username/reedlover/labelcolor/000000/trackcolor/000000/backgroundcolor/ffffff/background%20transparent/0.png - http://www.denness.net/scrobblersig/username/reedlover/label color/000000/trackcolor/000000/backgroundcolor/ffffff/backgr ound%20transparent/0.png

but, VERY VERY IMPORTANT, you must attach to it "" at the end (without quotes) to use it like an image (and not like a link)

before save this configuration, you can prewiev it...

@snow dog:

hello!

do you mean audioscrobbler password? I've found nothing about password lenght...

for your signature, you should change the spaces in your name with "%20"  (without quotes) (this is a general thing, because spaces are not allowed in internet addresses)

PS: this prehosted "signature service" is not provided directly by audioscrobbler, so one day could be not working
