...and , if necessary, find you wanting.
List the FIRST 5 (alphabetically) bands/artists and lp/cd titles under the letter "G" in your collection.
(If you have more than one title by a certain band, please only list one lp title of your choice and move on to the next band.)
Please BE HONEST.
Line up your ducks and await the adjudication of arbiter elegantarum, Baggs the Man.

Oh damn. Okay: I'm ordering artists alphabetically, albums chronologically. George Duke is alphabetized under G, Peter Gabriel under P - that way I'm avoiding the hassle between 'John Smith' and 'John Smith Quartet'.And I like it more.
Genesis 'From Genesis To Revelation', Gentle Giant 'Gentle Giant', George Duke 'Follow The Rainbow' The Gil Evans Orchestra Plays The Music Of Jimi Hendrix, Gino Vanelli 'Crazy Life'

Masterman is now in situ, having lowered fundement upon the exact longtitude and latitude upon seat of judgement.
You are now IN THE PRESENCE.
Tapfrets: by reason of your hailing to another - an amphibian morelike! - Baggs declines from even acknowledging you (save to say that henceforth Baggs shall not acknowledge you or your submissions)
To the others I remind, confession is good for the soul.
Bare yourselves to judgement.
Be judged and know it is GOODLY.
Even those whom art judged not to pass muster, may rejoice that at least for once in their miserable lives they have been given instigation and even, by example, DIRECTION.
Furthermore let it be reminded that...
Opps.
Baggs feels a bowel movement (doubtless a consequence of recent nocturnal emission strain) and must Immediatement drop load in privy chamber.
Baggs will return in short stead.

The Masterman has now returned from making appointment with Ye (Chamberpot) Privvy Chamber where, Baggs is happy to inform all, Baggs hath left healthy deposit of four steaming voidancies which my devoted manservant, Goodman Dan Dan The Privvy Chamber Assitant Man , hath lovingly taken out of and disposed (with required reverence) to earth.
So we are now ready to reccommence.
At this juncture it is Baggmaster's pleasure to introduce the Trio Of Doom, the Brigade of Correction whom will be responsible in fixing those deemed by Hiself to be lacking in prog acumen.
And here they now make entry. Behold my handsome agents of correction.

Water off a mantichore's back.
Verily they are right bitches , furious engines of dilegent infliction of PAIN and retribution.
So now, that all being made apparent, let us get back to matters at hand.
(I must add that the judging of you all is of no particular pleasure to His Eminence. I would much rather be out in fields of frozen barley romping and parlaying hither and forth, tongue lapping at the delicious geometries of falling snowflake.
It is a heavy chore I perform.

Sir RitchieRich - Oh, why not Pass, good fellow. Godspeed.
DoggoftheSnow - I am of mind to send thou straight to the administrations of Babs. Thou art knave and deserve no better.
Clarksies - I am of two minds here. I cannot but think thou art PLAYING His Baggsmastership in thine bringing up of Gil Evans, of whom thou art full aware Baggs is fanboy of (since Baggs but mentioned the Miles "Sketches of Spain" lp most recently on another thread.
Still, thy collection - if indeed thine - bespeaks good breeding and haut gout, so....pass on, without fear. (For the moment anyways - for knowest thou Baggs is somewhat suspicious in this case.

Ah well, such it will be. I of course will never have a say in such matters, as I am nothing but a humble djentleman who prefers the extremities of ear-shattering metal to the pleasantries of classic prog rock, and as we all know much too well, those ne'er-do-wells are best left unperturbed, lest they become offended rather quickly.

ODE TO A BAGGMAN
Oh resplendent Baggs, beloved amongst all men,
How thou dost whistle thy wisdoms from the midst of this hoary wilderness, our Void
How graciously, selflessly thou dost hold thy beacon lantern high in this swirling Ignorance
So to light our passage towards Enlightenment!
Oh glorious one, oh Baggs, indeed THE MAN
In what fire wast thou forged?
What sweating gods fed it?
What talents pounded and shappid thy mettle into present state of supremacy?
Didst they who made thee even expect such delight of final product?
Oh He of the Mighty Scrotal Baggs,
Virtual panjandrum of prog acumen,
What depth of sapience we see exhibited here?
Neath thy firey actinic gaze and smouldering brow.
Where, oh where doth Majesty flourish but betwix the supple , accomodating thighs
Of seemly Prog pansophy
And what but better conduit to take us there?
Baggs, preserve us from the thousandfold mite- bites of popinjay newbie-creatures which assail us daily.
For we are but weary knights of honour struggling forward on the path you have graciously laid us.
Protect us from legions of Lapsed Ones, beings of the hoi polloi which cast bodily mucks upon our worn armour
And gibe and jeer our passage as we harrow our way through their ignominious hinderances.
And forgive them, for it avails none to follow THEIR course.
(May their eyes feast on "Three And A Half Men" for eternity.)
Master prog schollard, Baggs,
Mayest God preserve and keep thee.
And may sirens and wyverns shriek their dismay, may hedgerow blackbirds sing out their heart's delight,
The day you makest THINE passage to met thy maker.
Bestow upon us reaching vessels,
but wee gobbets of thy emmense prog schollardship.
For even modicums of Greatness will suffice to uplift our souls.
Teach us, master.
Our ohren be avidly ope!
Teach us, for we crave DELIVERANCE.
