Subject: Avant-Garde Mafia: The Dimensional Duel

Avant-Garde
Mafia
Captain
Beefheart and His Magic Band
Kills every odd night.
Captain
Beefheart - Throws a fish at a player of his choice every
night, preventing them from being recruited on the next attempt. (Secret: After there are no more unrecruited players, the fish randomly redirects the night power of the player it hits every night until Beefheart dies.)
Drumbo - Feuds with his boss. As long as Captain Beefheart is alive, Drumbo receives all
night actions that Beefheart is targeted with (except for nightkills). If
Captain Beefheart dies, Drumbo becomes the new band leader and protects a band
member of his choice from nightkills every night.
Rockette
Morton – Runs on laser beams. Survives the first two
nightkill attempts against him by taking off into the wind.
The
Mascara Snake – Can use a role check every night to
find out the role of any player.
Zoot
Horn Rollo – Can jam on his dissonant guitar each day that he
is alive, shuffling up the day votes. Instead of the majority option winning,
he may choose another option that wins instead. The option he chooses, however,
must have three or more votes.
Mr.
Bungle
Kills every odd night.
Mike
Patton - Impersonates any player he chooses every night,
appearing as that player's role to any role checker during that time and
copying their night power (if there is one) the following night.(Secret: When Mike Patton dies, he loses BTSC with his team but can continue to vote in secret for every day period.)
Trey
Spruance - Searches for the Techno Allah, a
statue that is randomly re-assigned to a new player each night. If he
finds the player who has it, he successfully kills them and gains
one automatic night protection. Techno Allah is then randomly
re-assigned to
another player and the cycle continues.
Trevor
Dunn
– Is pissed off that he wasn’t invited to play on the secret song and decides
to search for it every night. If he finds the player who has it, the player
currently in possession of the secret song has two decisions: they can either
keep the song or give it to Trevor. If they decide to keep it, then Trevor becomes
even more pissed and kills that player if he finds them with the song a second
time. If they decide to give him the song, the player is recruited to Mr.
Bungle’s team and joins their BTSC. If the player is already on another team,
they retain their role and BTSC status with the other team, but the team is
unaware of the player’s new treasonous alliance. Trevor can successfully
recruit only once; afterward, this option no longer exists.
Clinton
McKinnon – Uses time alteration to mess with the game. Can
choose one day period to stop early and can undo the results of one night post immediately
after it has been posted. Both of these powers are to be used only once each in
the entire game.
Poo
Monster – Swallows one player of its choice every night,
removing them from this dimension.
Henry
Cow
Kills every even night.
Fred Frith - Conducts a
march every night. One coin is flipped, plus one more for each living teammate.
For each coin that flips heads, he can choose one player and influence that
player's vote in the subsequent day's activities. (Secret: For every voting period that has a unanimous outcome, Fred Frith gains an automatic resurrection to be used on himself two nights after his death.)
Chris
Cutler - Throws his drumsticks every night at any two
players of his choice in an attempt to role block them. A coin is flipped; if
it flips heads, then both players are role blocked. If tails, nothing happens.
Dagmar
Krause – Uses her voice every night to attempt to create a
force field around herself and her teammates. A coin is flipped; if it flips
heads, then she protects everyone in Henry Cow from any nightkill attempts. If
tails, nothing happens.
Tim
Hodgkinson – Tries to find a human heart to feed to his pet
beast. He targets one player of his choice every night. Two coins are flipped;
if both coins flip heads, then the player dies. Otherwise, nothing happens.
Lindsay
Cooper – Can use the epic power of her bassoon every night
to attempt to reflect any night action targeted at her back at the sender. A
coin is flipped; if it flips heads, then it is successful. If tails, nothing
happens.
The Silencers
Kills every even night.
John
Cage - Silences one player of his choice every night,
excluding them from the subsequent day's activities. (Secret: When John Cage is killed, he takes out a randomly selected individual from the team that killed him.)
·Yoshida
Tatsuya – Insanifies one individual of his choice every
night, inflicting them with a negative vote (-1 instead of +1) in the
subsequent day period. This also inflicts anyone who quotes any of the
insanified individual’s posts the subsequent day with the same punishment.
·John
Zorn – Composes, mixes, edits, and produces a completely
new CD full of avant-garde saxophone ramblings every night and gives it to a
player of his choice. If the player decides to listen to it, then John Zorn can
spy on that person’s night powers every night.
·Toby
Driver – Writes one message every night. He then gives that
message to the host so that it can be transmitted to one player of his choice.
The message will seem as though it is a direct message from the host.
·Edgard
Varese – Works in the laboratory to create a zombie. Every
night, two dice are rolled. If doubles are rolled, he gains a resurrection to
be used that night on any dead player of his choice.
The
Residents
Curses every night.
Blue
Eyeball – Curses one player of its choice every night. The target
dies anywhere from 1 to 6 nights later, depending on the roll of a die.
Green
Eyeball – Curses one player of its choice every night. The target
dies anywhere from 1 to 6 nights later, depending on the roll of a die.
Brown
Eyeball – Curses one player of its choice every night. The target
dies anywhere from 1 to 6 nights later, depending on the roll of a die.
Mr.
Skull – Selects one player of its choice every night. The
target’s entire team (if they have one) is role blocked for the night.
(Thanks to Mike Steffler/Long Con for the awesome graphics!!!!)

Introduction
25
individuals were deposited into a new reality. They awakened in a completely
empty dimension, nothing surrounding them except for white, empty space. They
could see each other, but nothing else could be seen for miles.
horsewithteeth11 felt something underneath his shoe and lifted his foot to find
that he was stepping on a piece of paper. He picked up the parchment. He read
it aloud to everyone.
As
a group, you must decide your first collective occupation. You can take a
journey into a completely unique reality depending on which option you choose.
You can choose to work as a group of apprentices for the individual that awaits
you at any respective location.
You
have 24 hours to make your decision. Reality then will shift in accordance to
collective preference.
Options: (1) Factory (2) Chapel (3) Bakery (4) Theater (5) Screw you, random guy! I refuse to choose. Rebellion all the way!
You have 24
hours to vote for the location/option of your choice.

Factory (2) Chapel (3) Bakery (4) Theater (5) Screw you,
random guy! I refuse to choose. Rebellion all the way!
Factory sounds too much like work~ I'm not religious, so Chapel is out.
I like Cookies, and in a white wasteland, a source of food is good. A theater might have a film with info about something that could be useful, so I like that option, too.
BUT~ I have never done what is expected of me, and dislike random people telling me what to do. So, for me, "Screw You, Random Guy" is a very real option.

I'ma go out on a limb and say each location correlates to to one of the team leaders... and I can guess what a couple of them are

You know, we can discuss this~ because if any of the options have negative repercussions, if someone jumped out of the gate & voted for it, it would look bad for them down the line....
Just sayin'

You're allowed to speculate whatever you want.
In fact, it's heavily encouraged.

me too, but, looking back, I would say that factory is the Henry Cow choice, Bakery is the Beefheart choice, and I'm not familiar with John Cage but I think theater is more likely to be Bungle than chapel is

John Cage does have "As Slow as Possible" playing in some cathedral over in Europe. Mike Patton loves film music. I'd say you're right on all four.

Initially, i dismissed "Factory" because it sounded like work, BUT with a factory, you can make stuff. Guns (to take over the bakery), religious symbol trinkets to (to sell to the chapel), etc.
Hmmmmm........

I disagree. Knowing Alex here and irl, I'd say it's a musical connection.
And darn you Coolin. I was going to post those videos. Why couldn't you be oot and aboot?
So then the non proggers would be at a disadvantage?

Factory sounds too much like work~ I'm not religious, so Chapel is out.
I like Cookies, and in a white wasteland, a source of food is good. A theater might have a film with info about something that could be useful, so I like that option, too.
BUT~ I have never done what is expected of me, and dislike random people telling me what to do. So, for me, "Screw You, Random Guy" is a very real option.
Is that a vote or just a consideration?
Bump. Just double checking.

howdy everyone~ checking in. i dont know what to think about the choices either, and I don't plan on spending too much time deliberating on what to decide cuz It's my 21st birthday :x
chapel is religious but it's also a safe place. I might vote there. But theatre is the most interesting by far. I don't really want to go the factory route at all. Not only do they have all those moving parts that could get someone killed but they're creepy and full of forced labor Haha I'm kind of tempted to say screw you because I like defying authority
Ehhh I'll make sure to get my vote in, just I'm indecisive at the moment XD

Well, I think the most likely case is that the four options benefit the four teams -- looks like you guys have already figured out which is which :P so I think it is safest to vote for the Screw You option. *votes rebelliously*

lol thanks for the birthday wishes.
I agree it probably benefits one of the teams. So IDK how I should vote. As far as I can tell, this game is a struggle between 4 teams to recruit as many unrecruited players as possible while killing the other teams off?

also, if we want to find out who the 4 leader-types are (not sure if that's any kind of logical goal...), the more people that vote "screw you" the better

Well, usually in Mafia no knowledge of the theme isn't a handicap, but it appears to be in this game.
So I am going to vote for "Screw You" because it most reflects what i would likely do if confronted with these options, regardless of possible connections between the roles and the choices, of which i am woefully ignorant

Well, what has happened yet to even know? I voted for randomly because it was silly, and after that Colin put out his theory about each location = one of the members. Nothing else has happened yet!

I like trice's theory about the locations - tbh - it's the only thing that makes any sort of sense to me. Since I'm not one of the four roles listed - I'm going all anti-authoritarian.

Oh well. Coolin's theory is the one that makes the most sense, and I find it hard that the Sock would do a non-musical connection here.

That could provide an interesting predicament for, supposedly, John Cage. Or, since the Chapel is most definitely not going to win at this point, maybe he was wise and didn't vote for the option that would better him, so as to still remain anonymous.
