YOSO, the supergroup compiled of former YES and TOTO members (Tony Kaye, Billy Sherwood of Yes and Bobby Kimball of Toto) are going to be playing a show at the Jazz Café, London on Monday 11th October 2010. Playing a back catalogue of all the major Yes and Toto classics (‘Owner of a Lonely Heart’, ‘Hold The Line’).

Hmmm... thinking if Yoso members were Tony Kaye, Trevor Rabin, and Bobby Kimball-- THAT I'd get excited about.

By "major Yes classics", can we expect versions of the epic prog numbers, or will this be a pop rock orientated gig?

I would expect the latter. They do a medley of Yours is no Disgrace,  Heart of the Sunrise, South Side of the Sky and Starship Trooper on their album, but this is mainly without vocals. The album itself is mainly pop orientated AOR with a hint of prog. It's quite good but don't expect Close to the Edge.

There's a bonus live disc on the Yoso studio album. I suspect that the show will be a lot like that.

That's where the Yes medley I mentioned comes from. They also do a couple of tracks from 90125 (guess which one of them is), a couple of Toto numbers and the rest are not surprisingly from the Yoso album.

I saw them live in Zaandam (Netherlands) two weeks ago.

They played most of the songs from their new album, and lots of old 'classics' from the early Toto years and the 90125/Big Generator Yes period.

Although there were only about 60 (!!) paying visitors, it was a pleasant evening. For me Billy Sherwood was 'the man of the match'. Guitarplayer Johnny Bruhns (American Yes-tribute band Roundabout) was a positive surprise.

I will be in London from 11 to 14 october. Might check this out, I am a massive TOTO fan (not that much a Yes fan).
