Hello fellow prog-heads!

My name is Stéphane Gallay, I'm hailing from Geneva, Switzerland! I'm a forty-something prog lover since, well, probably since a cousin of mine offered me Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" the year it was released. Get'em while they're young!

I mostly listen to symphonic prog, neo-prog, progressive metal and post-rock, with some incursions into electronica and more standard rock stuff.

One question for the admin crowd: I frequently write album reviews in my French-language blog (link in sig; all content under Creative Commons license). I would be willing to translate them into English to share them on Progarchives. Would it be OK from a legal point of view?

Swiss proghead who likes Neo and symphonic, eh?

I'll expect a review of Shakary's "Shakary 2006" to be coming this way in a bit then :-)

First time I heard of them! Downloading now from iTunes, I'll check that later.

Shame, the band is now listed as dead.

Yeah. I believe "Shakary 2006" was something of a major production for them, that probably didn't turn out as succesful as planned. Or something of the sort. From what I understodd from their website while ut was still active they had a new album more or less ready that never was released with the same line-up.

What I've read on other sites is that it was a kind of compilation, but including most of their previous efforts.

Speaking of obscure neo-prog albums, I plan to say a little bit on what seems to be one of the most hated albums here, Deyss' "Visions in the Dark"...

Oh, "Shakary 2006" was far from an ordinary compilation.

Rerecorded and rearranged versions of their two first studio albums, with a complete new line-up. Including the amazing pipes of one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noel_McCalla - Noel McCalla

Why would there be a legal problem when you are the one writing and translating them?

Anyway, welcome to the site.

I think he was asking whether or not he can re-post his own material, published on other sites, on PA.

Welcome to the site

Theoretically, when publishing stuff on PA, PA owns it. I don't know how that applies to previously published material, though.

As far as I know, anything you have written can be published here as well as long as it wasn't excklusive with a particular site.

Personally I post rewvies here on rateyourmusic as well - and vice versa. While the ones I write specifically for www.progressor.net aren't published anywhere else (apart from the blog posts of various lazy pirates, that is).

I know of some sites (non-prog related) that do no allow previously published reviews.

In any case, what I publish on PA is 1) a translation from French and 2) usually reworked, as PA is not my personal blog and vice versa.

Whatever you post here is, as far as I know, non-exclusive. Many reviewers here who post their reviews elsewhere as well.
