POPULAR ARTISTS (TOP 40, LAST 24H): Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden. I also saw Black Sabbath and Talking Heads there before. What's wrong with these artists? They're in Prog-Related. In my opinion these artists should not display in the Popular Artists Top 40 section.

I think it's because this top 40 list takes entries from simply what's popular, while for example Top 100-250 charts shows you only certain genres (all genres except Proto / Prog-related). Except you use something like this:

I wouldn't think it would be difficult for mailto:M@x - M@x to exclude them (and proto prog?) if the popular view is that is what's needed.

Why exclude something. the most popular artist list is likely derived from the number of visits on a certain day, most likely when a band get's somehow in the news it will get more hits.
It's a nice way to see what artist have something going. bigger progartists are always in the list, sometimes a lesser known artist get in the list, so probably than there's something going on with the artist, maybe a new released album frosaid artist, or a drummer decides to leave (in case of DT that will not show in the list as they are already on the list normally anyway). so this is normal for such list and even very much what people like me want from such lists, an idea what's going on in a short look at the list. never heard of BunChakeze, probably newly added and gathering some interest.

^ But Bob, why to exclude them at all ? After all they had to go through (getting here Prog-related band is far more difficult than "normal" Prog), after all rejections and obstacles, these two genres will be persecuted even more.
I know that they're not full Prog, we all are aware of it, but they're here on ProgArchives, so if they're popular, why to exclude them ? It's not Top40 Prog only artists, but it's Popular artists, ProgArchives artists, so including Talking Heads and anything that's popular here.
And charts, not just excluding by default setting, but virtually preventing people from searching for Proto-Prog and Prog-related artists. Why ? If people will rate "A Night at Opera", it's their decision, so it means that people think a lot about this album, so why not to see it in charts ? But it's another debate of course.

I wasn't suggesting we exclude them, just responding to the original post. mailto:M@x - M@x is always open to feedback, so I was just seeking views.
Looks like 2-1 against any change so far.

They're here. They're popular.
I'm good with that.

OK Bob, I didn't understand your post in this light. Being in Crossover Team taught me a lot about Prog-related. At first, I thought that a lot of artists can be placed in Prog-related, but I realized that this isn't true and
I see it differently, in more sober light.
It's genre reserved for certain, carefully selected artists. However, as for equality of P-R / P-P genres with other Full Prog genres, I'm all for it.

it's not surprising. Gentle Giant are too gentle to be heard of. I don't know what I'm saying either.
