I mean, yeah...pretty straightforward.

As for me, I think that while Bill Bruford was on the best rhythm TEAM the band had seen, for pure drumming I'd have to go with Giles.

My vote swings towards Bruford because of that gigantic shift he took from the 70s to the 80s. The immediate embrace of the new vocabulary rooted in electronics, non-western percussion and minimalism was stunning.

Bruford, because of everything Walter said, plus his 70s drumming was pretty awesome too.

Yeah, the way this poll is going now is exactly what I was thinking.  Bruford, then Giles.  I'd put Andy McCullough after them.

Shame Pat Mastellotto didn't get any votes. He's my second pick. And he's probably more in line with the "King Crimson ideaology" than Bruford was. But Bruford gets my vote anyway for being basically the best drummer ever.

Bill Bruford is a main candidate to win in most of the polls concerning the drumming, I suppose.

Bill Bruford, master of subtle skills.

Yeah, wow, I wasn't expecting Bruford to dominate THIS much.

Probably because he's well known also to non KC fans.

Bruford is the obvious choice, partly because of how much work he actually did for the band, but also coz hes just so awesome. I have high hopes for Garrison though, but hard to vote for him when he hasn't really done anything yet.

Bill just shines regardless of who he plays with, so he definitely get's my vote. I must say though, that hearing what Ian Wallace did late in his career with the Crimson Jazz Trio, this man was an amazing rhythm player as well. So sad that he's no longer with us.

Oh come on this is too easy: Bill Bruford for a couple reasons. One he's pretty much the best drummer ever (well ok maybe not the best, but top 10 no doubt), and two he has contributed more to King Crimson than any other drummer in the band.

My second pick would have been Pat Mastelotto. I love his drumming on The Power To Believe, and I believe he did a great job working with KC.

Andy McCullough, great free drummer. I dislike a lot of Brufords drums for a reason I don't know myself. Just isn't my style.

OK. Bill is the best one. But I vote Andy, love Lizard's drumming, it's energetic and marking

I totally agree. Bill Bruford is one of my favourite drummers. (Or probably my favourite drummer.)

Mike Giles by a wide margin. Bruford is great, but Giles blows my mind. It's a shame he played on so few albums.

Not surprised that Bill would run away with this one.  He fit in better with KC than he did with Yes and he fit in well.

M. Giles is the best due to the genre of the music  played at the beginning of the band.
B.Bruford is great too.

The answer would be sound maybe " Who is/was King Crimson's best drummer, except Bill Brufford? The poll would be more objective.

Who else will win if not the best drummer and the greatest goodie in the world?

Yeah, I think so too. I think Michael Giles is one of the best drummers around. Listen to the imaginative drumming on KC's first. Totally original and mindblowing.

He plays great on Ant Phillips' Sides as well, but that aside.

Sometimes you have to agree with Walter. For similar reasons, Fripp is an amazing guitarist and his approach to music wonderful.

Bill Bruford. Jazzy style, but he's the best for KC by far.

Bill Bruford - loved his work with Yes and King Crimson, though Michael Giles is tied  with Bruford when it comes to King Crimson.

Bruford had killer chops, but Giles fit in with the band better. Maybe it's just because there's all ready a little too much Bruford in my prog diet: Second's Out/CTTE/One of  Kind.

Bruford of course. I think that Gavin Harisson shouldn't be included (yet).
