Heres a little game; try to define a subgenre of PA (Symphonic Prog/Eclectic Prog etc) using a single term or word.
I'll do a few first...
Zeuhl: Magma
Eclectic: Miscellaneous
Prog Metal: Dream Theater
Tech/Extreme Prog Metal: Growls
Avant: Weird
Prog Folk: Acoustic

Prog Metal: Illiteracy (I have yet to hear any prog metal with lyrics of a good calibre. I sort of hope to be disproved. And Opeth don't count, because a mass of randomly selected dark imagery is not good writing. It fits the music, but it's not good writing... Arcturus don't count because writing in an educated way about dumb things is still writing about dumb things) |
