Yes, i know almost every prog musician is pretencious, but who is the most?

We can make a poll later. My vote goes to Robert Fripp. Quoting Bruford:  "(...) that poor pretencious virtuoso. god bless him..."

Robert Fripp is far from the most pretentious.  He never even came off as very pretentious to me actually, he sits back on stage and doesn't draw attention to himself at all.  People always say he's being pretentious or arrogant when he discusses his music, but when you're describing the intricacies of your own music how don't you sound pretentious?

Yes, but I'm a thousand times the lesser musician, so on average I'm the more pretentious musician.

The use of "pretentious" and "prog" together in the same sentence should be banned. LOL

Should pretentious be reserved when referring to the artist formally known as Prince who now is referred to as the artist know as Prince?

Roger Waters!!!!

then:
Robert Fripp
Keith Emerson
Christian Vander
Toby Driver
Steve Wilson
Joe Satriani
Ritchie Blackmore
Serj Tankian....

So, a little bit of pretentiousness is needed in a career of every musician, I mean.

Satriani and Toby Driver, pretentious??? Well, I guess I have some interviews to read... But I never heard such words about Satriani (after all, the guys from Deep Purple seemed to enjoy playing with him rather than with Ritchie "I-won't-play-Smoke-On-The-Water-on-the-whole-world-tour" Blackmore)

I've read Toby Driver's explanations of the songs off his solo album. I can't decide if its pretencious or genius. Maybe its both. Maybe the word doesn't mean what I think it means Wink

Roger Waters.  Anyone who advances an entire album theme based upon his proclivity for spitting on his fans during live shows is just a pompous, disrespectful asshat.

Sadly, that might violate the delicate balance of decorum.  Wink

I love Waters' music (most of the time), but the man has an ego more firmly inflated than any large rubber pig.

The most pretentious musician is obviously Roger Daltrey, going in front of an audience and telling them you are performing an opera for them as a rock n roll band is the very definition of pretentious
