Queen II by a landslide. It's something like... cake or death? Seriously, I'm looking at the LZ IV CD as I type, and there's no way anything could make me take it out of the shelf and actually play it. I do appreciate Led Zep's master musicianship, don't get me wrong - all right I'm not exactly a fan of Percy's vocals, but I just cannot get into them. Queen II on the other hand, is not only the crown jewel of possiby the best band ever, but a true masterpiece of prog, because that's what we're discussing here.  |

I'm actually not very fond of either of these albums by two great bands, they simply did better things IMO.. that said, the production and continuity on ZoSo is superior so I guess it gets my vote |

I prefer LZ to Q but there are a lot of albums I would prefer to listen to than IV it is one of the most over rated albums ever, really it is! No vote though. ------------- Help me I'm falling! |

I am a huge Queen fan and like virtually everything they've made (including the Flash Gordon album); Queen II would be an obvious choice here, were it not, that I am not familiar with Led Zeppelin

Voice of reason here. ZOSO is a great album. It gets a bad reputation because Stairway To Heaven has been in the AOR rotation so prominently and so long that it just about makes us ill when we hear it anymore. What's always left out or forgotten is just how good the R&R (Black Dog, Rock and Roll), the hippie folk sh*t (The Battle of Evermore, Going to California), the unclassifiable (Four Sticks), and the doom blues (When the Levee Breaks) are. And I haven't even mentioned Stairway To Heaven (well, hmm, I did), which is a fine song as well. Call 'em overrated if you will, but there are very few rock albums of this caliber. ------------- Can you tell me where we're headin'? Lincoln County Road or Armageddon. |

I am with you, I LOVE Queen 2! Queen and Genesis are my all time favorite bands, depending on when you ask me I'll either tell you that Queen is my favorite band, or Genesis is my fave. Right now it's Queen! Anyway, I am a HUGE Queen fan and a causal fan and great admirer of Led Zep. I greatly appreciate what Zep did as a band and I would say that overall they were a better band than Queen. The older that I get the deeper my appreciation of Robert Plant's vocals, in Zep, grows. They were all amazing musicians. After the Beatles I would list Zep as the greatest rock band ever. That being said Queen appeals to me so much more and deeper than Zep. Queen 2 is my second favorite Queen cd, after Sheer Heart Attack. Is it a better cd than Zep 4? Probably not, but it speaks to me on so many different levels. 2 great albums, probobly the best by each band, it's hard to vote but i think IV have been a bit more important for my musical jerney. Its allso intresting that both albums was the first i bough by each band maybe thats why i like em so much. But overal i like Zeppelin much more then Queen, so that may allso be a reason to vote for em. -------------

I don't own Queen II, so I can't say I wouldn't like it, but I have to go with Led Zeppelin IV, its an all time classic, I mean come on Stairway to Heaven, what more needs to be said. No offense to Queen though, their albums are masterpieces as well. |

I don't listen to goddamn radio so I don't got that sort of 'overplayed' bias. To me, Led Zeppelin has never been overplayed. Why? Because I've never given 'em a chance to be over-heard. (not overhead, mind you). So coming at it without that bias, I put them both on the same level. I hate parts of both and really enjoy parts of both. I really enjoy Queen's singing and diversity. I really enjoy Led Zeppelin's heavy guitar aspect. I really hate it any time Led Zeppelin 'branched out' or 'went prog'. I really hate when Queen 'went opera' and their entire guitar tone pisses me off on poorer days. So I put 'em both on the same level and put Night at the Opera on the same level as IV. Queen II? I put that on the same level as Led Zeppelin I (one step lower than Night and IV). So tharrr.

Easily Queen II!
Without even knowing it at the time, Queen II probably turned out to be the first `proper' prog album I ever heard. `Orge Battle', `March Of The Black Queen', floored me! I'd never heard anything like it!! :) So that album is very special to me still (even though I don't listen to Queen a lot these days).

| Nothing against Queen, but I think those albums are really in different levels, as you can also see in this poll. If there had been Night at the Opera from Queen, I think it would be more reasonable. So LZ IV was my vote. |
