Heloo....

I think I am get lost in new/modern progs. I used to listen the old and classic and when I found some of the newest such as Pain Salvation, etc. The sound is quite different. Where should I get started,  in listening the new modern progs,  so I am able to catch up you guys ? is there  any band which sound quite similliar to Close to The Edge or One For Vine, Supper Ready, ELP, Karn Evil, Floyd's Fat old Sun  or even Tull's Aqualung   ? Which I think is damn beautiful songs. I hope I am not trapped by the definition progs. The music is changing right ? and  I am probably stuck with the old one Cry...........

Thanks

If you like King Crimson, I'd say listen to Anekdoten or the Mars Volta.
For Genesis-like new(ish) bands, I think Marillion and IQ should do the trick.  Some early Porcupine Tree is somewhat reminiscent of classic Pink Floyd.  As far as Yes goes, maybe some of The Flower Kings or Anglagard The Decemberists may or may not be like Jethro Tull, but you may find interest in them.

And welcome to the Site! Thumbs Up

Oceansize!

Women Who Love Men Who Love Drugs, Ornament/The Last Wrongs and Paper Champion are ideal songs to "get lost" in.

Anekdoten, Anglagard if you like Crimson
Cardiacs if you like Zappa
And a load of progmetal bands: Mastodon, Death, Psychotic Waltz, etc

IQ's Frequency and Martin Orford's The Old Road are well in touch in with the old traditions of prog rock without being too beholden. Happily recommend both.
