I'm going for the original for the Sigouney in her underwear scene.

Aliens followed by Alien. Alien 3 was a huge disappointment, and the rest were complete disasters.
Still I have much hope for the Ridley Scott prequels.

I've only seen Aliens. Not too keen on seeing the rest.

few movies beat that first Alien, I remember seeing it when it came out; I was about 13 and they were being strict about admitting underage kids so I had to ask a passing adult to pretend I was with them (seriously)..
that said, I absolutely love 3 and think it is probably the finest of the four Alien films proper, just a gorgeous and darkly brilliant sci-fi movie

just wait a few years and try it again, it's a stunner (and the director's version is almost a different movie, also great)

Ha, after eighteen years I think I know how I feel about the film. Saw it on opening day, and I own all the films in all the formats. Seen it many a times.

Aliens is a great action movie, definitely my favourite action movie off all time, but it's just that, an action movie. Alien is a stunning masterpiece of cinema, and it stands well between my artsy favourites like Tarkovsky, Bergman or Fellini. Alien3 is a great piece of gothic thriller/horror, it scared me the most. A great underrated film. Overall I think these three complement each other very well into the best film trilogy ever.
Jean Pierre Jeunet could have done a great job with Resurrection, he's a great director, but the script was very poor even though the ideas they build upon were very promising. Also he was at his first Hollywood job so he didn't have any control. His frustration with this situation was expressed through some anti-franchise comedy moments in the film which ruin it for me even more.
AVP was worse but I have come to appreciate it since I saw Requiem
Looking forward to the prequels, even if Ridley is now a completely different director to the one from the 70s...

Alien is a classic gothic horror set in space.
Aliens is a war film set in space.
Alien 3 onwards are all pretty worthless.
For my money Alien is the best film.

Alien was unique, and was the best horror film with the best cast.
Aliens was the best action film.
Alien 3 had the most beautiful alien (the dog buster is a magnificent beast) but the script was a bit of a mess and the cast and director seem to be going through the motions without that much conviction. The death of Newt and Hicks at the beginning was a mistake in my opinion, (I'm sure they could have concocted a reasonable explanation as to why Newt had aged 6 years while in stasis, or found another actress to play the role).
Alien Resurrection had the best character actor cast (Weaver, Ryder, Pearlman, Wincott) but sadly underutilised a fine director, a poor script and the human/alien hybrid was just horrible. But I love it never-the-less and it gets my vote.
AVP - was okay - but a missed opportunity I think.
AVP Requiem - got it, haven't watched it yet.

Alien for sure -- great and creepy horror film. Alien 3 is my second favourite. Aliens is my least favourite (yeah, too much just an action film for my tastes). Alien 4 was a disappointment because I already loved the director's work when I saw it, and that just paled in comparison. Sill, not bad. I do like the cast, and Brad Dourif is commonly a plus for me.

I totally enjoyed Aliens, but yeah much more of an action movie.
One of those I had to go see at the theater when it opened.

Do you have the DVD edition Greg? The extra features are stunning.

I've got the super deluxe edition with all of the main ones and director's cuts. It doesn't have any of the predator ones. If I'm in the urge to watch an alien, I keep to the director's versions. The s.d.e. was soaked by the flood but he DVDs still function.

No Alex. Love to get it. I'd like the most gourmet version possible with lots of Alien "easter" eggs.
Incidentally, I haven't seen Aliens vs, Predator Requiem, but I can't imagine it would have anywhere near the impact that Alien had on me.
And for fun:

Original Alien by Ridley Scott. It's great both as a sci-fi movie and a horror movie!
'Aliens' is a decent action movie and the two others just money collecting for some people.

Alien is fantastic.
Aliens was a huge disappointment, so I haven't bothered with the rest. Sigorney Weaver surrounded by american male stereotype idiots, that I recognize from those retarded 80's teen comedies. You know who's gonna die and when, and I couldn't care less about any of them. Just as predictable as any other slasher movie.

My thoughts entirely. The first was a fantastic film, so edgy and genuinely scary, but for me Aliens is even better. It does indeed rock, big time. Bill Paxton is hilarious too .

I think you'd be pleasantly surprised by Alien3. Not an action flick, but a dark, gothic thriller, with an adequate director. Which is why "the fans" hate it

"Alien" is an all-time great film, probably in my top 10. "Aliens," however, is the greatest action film ever made.
There are no other Alien films, I don't know what you're talking about.

Aliens is my favourite, followed by the first film which is also excellent.
Which one had Winona Ryder in it? 3 or 4? Whatever, it was utter bullsh*t. I took a girl to the cinema to see it, on a date (her choie of film, before you ask) and I fell asleep half way through, which didn't go down to well, she took it personally for some reason..so, I have bad memories of that film.. lol
------------- Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I once new a guy whose girlfriend fell asleep during sex. Ouch! Never happened too me because of course I am way too exciting in bed. Now that I'm married the problem is trying to the wife up for. She never has that problem me dagnabbit.
Winona was in Resurrection. I've been working my way through the series and that one's up for next. Even though I liked Alienses (Saturday Night Live did a sketch called that I believe), I quit going to see the movies in the theater when they came out for no particular reason. I think numbers three and four had a much shorter run and less publicity.
