They are both among my fav guitarists, without doubt

I thought about him myself. Great guitarist. But I kept it down to these 2 guys 'cause IMO they defined fusion guitar over everybody else. Especially John, anybody who's a Miles Davis alumni goes on top. So that's my vote. BTW, ever notice the resemblence between Allan and Keith Moon in the McLaughlin pic?

I disagree. I've heard many more guitarists emulate Holdsworth than JM or ADM. Holdsworth's tone and style is more readily recognizable that either JM or ADM. Don't get me wrong, I dig their music and admit that they are tops in the field, but AH is one of the most unique guitarists ever. I'll take JM over ADM in your poll. |
