Please, report me about your experiences with using paypal. How dangerous is it to become a victim of an abuse?

I've used it for years, and the only problem I've ever had was because of the United States Postal Service destroying $100 worth of stuff we sold.  Angry

In other words, PayPal is excellent and I've never had an issue with them, but be aware that if you receive money through them, they do deduct a small percentage.

Sorry, but I forgot to tell that I'm interested in purchasing items and if I understood you correct, you were selling items with paypall. Thanks anyway.

I've done both, plenty of times.  Safe either way.  Thumbs Up

PayPal itself is excellent for purchasing and I've never had any problems with it.

However, you should be aware of bogus emails, supposedly from Paypal, advising you that your account has been compromised. The bogus email asks you to click on a link that wiil no doubt divert you to a site where your details will be hijacked. If you get any such email, log in to your PayPal account to check your status rather than clicking any links in an email.

Hope that helps.

Paypal is pretty trustworthy for buyers, but I've heard there's a lot of problems for sellers and charities.

PayPal has been extremely safe for me, both as seller (just a couple of times) and buyer (around 8 times).

Thanks, so for a buyer the only problem are the e-mails. I've also heard, that you are more endangered if you buy a lot an at high prices. Is that true?

It's great; I use it all the time. No problems.

I'm a buyer only but I've never had a problem in some 50+ purchases over the last year.

Paypal protects you up to 20,000$ in insurance, so unless you go over that price its still incredibly secure to use.

http://www.paypalsucks.com/ - I'm not saying this is the most reliable website in the world, but it's worth noting. http://www.somethingawful.com/d/news/paypal-fiasco-summary.php - Something Awful had a mess when they tried to organize a temporary charity, and I've heard other people have had similar problems when they set up accounts for similar intangible purposes. Basically, it seems to be a bad idea to keep any amount of money in your PayPal account because it could be frozen indefinitely for any reason at all. It's nice as a random internet guy that it's there for me to buy things from eBay with relative safety, but they don't seem to side with the seller all that much. Which makes sense, really, and Amazon is probably the same way. I guess that's why we still have pawn shops and used CD stores in existence.

Except for the condition of an item (damage during transport), does it matter, which country you're from? In the means of safety, use ...

Perhaps it's really safe but ...Isn't it better to look at the people you negociate with in the face?
