GREAT job! I wish I was into canterbury more than I am, so that I could better appreciate the artists/albums etc., although this one is FANTASTIC! I really love the borders and mysterious colours used.
Fantastic work, as always!

Thank you Joel. mysterious colours used.?
I guess I most confess that since I started creating collages of different prog genre and bands I had learnt to appreciated them . Even thought in this case I know and I had loved many of the albums for years, but i had listen to some albums for the first time these past months.
I guess my collages encourage me and fan of prog as yourself to investigate and listen or even discover for the first time many great underrated bands and albums.
Thank again!!!

That's wonderful, Abel! As a Canterbury fan, I think it really captures the spirit of the movement. Well done once again!

you should check their album that I listed. that was the main reason why i made this collage about these bands and the prog sub genre. I believe these bands are very underrated and unappreciated when their albums as great as their most popular rprog rock bands.
Thanks I worked very hard on this one! The Yes one was easy!!!

Perfect Timing! I was just starting to get into Canterbury more over the past few weeks, now I feel like listening to it more. (most of your collages put me in the mood for whatever the subject is)
Your collages have been my desktops for some time now, you have a good streak going, keep it up!

I love this collage and may change my desktop soon from Yes collage to this.... My interpretation is:
This is a psychedelic kaleidoscopic galaxy of the Canterbury era. Gongs Flying Teapot soaring high above Planet Gong into the stratosphere is inspirational. Soft Machine are lurking behind the supernova, their numbers simply make a statement of their longevity and lack of album titles in those early golden years. The camel looks so at home beside the Gong temple. The colours that swirl in the night sky churn up the Canterbury icons that are hidden in the starburst. Planets hang in space encompassing an era of Canterbury imagery.
Outside the frame many characters spill out. Matching moles and a Rotters Club lady mind their own business and Caravan’s sleeping beauty, resplendent in her magnificence, simply ignores all, including the statuesque figures, and continues her eternal rest. The Rotters Club lady draws a picture of Soft Machine’s ultimate album and other ladies write letters to unknown lovers. Henry Cow's floating sock hangs ominously and incongruously. A beam of light bursts through the clouds and a Holy priest raises his arms in adulation. Hatfield’s villages peer thru the maelstrom and overseeing all is the eye of knowledge that glows brightly like an iridescent beacon, a symbol of hope, lighting up the darkness.

This is overwhelmingly a bang-up job. Thank you for sharing.
The element concerning Canterbury Scene is blocked. This is very good. And, the sensibility shines.
I personally paid attention to the corner under the left side. The woman who appears in "Rotters Club" is writing Album Art of "Third" of Softs. I felt the humour in it.

Excellent work Abel, I've not seen all of your collages, but from those I've seen, this one may be the best.
Do you plan to make a Zeuhl/Avant/RIO anytime soone? That would definitely be cool

Thank you Abel. You know what they say, it is through laughter that you sweeten the bitter life.
But seriously now, be keen my friend. Me and my brother were raised on progressive rock, blues and classical music and out of the blue he begun to listen to gangsta rap and melodic hip hop (don't ask me . . . ). Serously! One day he was like "F**k this sh*t, imma gangsta nao niggas". The worst of it is that the quote is completelly 100% true.
He tonned down his attitude a nowadays, but still he resigned all his prog raising (if there is such a thing).
But anyway, Pink Floyd is a great start. It is a band you can actually get behind because they were successfull throughout their career, unlike some other prog bands *cough* GENESIS *cough* and they have such a widespread influence that is hard not to get involved with prog rock or prob metal when you have a pink floyd background. Believe it or not I only decided DT was a good thing after listening to Octavarium. Now DT is my favorite band ever (second favorite actually , but PF is already gone so i guess they don't count that much anymore).
Best of luck and the kinddest of regards from down south,
Caio César.

that is defiantly the worst of the worst to see a family member getting gangster Rap. when he or she was't raised or part of that culture and even understand it. I am glad he calm down! I personally can relate to that big time. i have been in the USA since the age of 18 ( 1988) when Gangster Rap was become pretty big and watching my youngest sister getting into that was quiet disturbing and heart breaking of anger and frustration. At least my sister maybe have an excuse because she grew up here in New York where part of Gangster rap was born. I came to the USA when I was 16. I stayed for 6 months then I return when I was 18 when USA had became my home for 21 long years. I can proudly say that I never got into rap or hip hop. not because it was a black thing and I am closer to be a black man than a white man, but basically the whole thing behind it. The whole f**king attire toward your friends society and family. My sister wasn't smart enough to see that. When she realized it. it was too late. She right now paying the consequences and I am more that 100 percent sure that rap has a lot to do with it. ( specially Gangster rap) . I always told her about her friends and the music listen to but all she did was criticize the weird sh*t I listen to. It has been 15 years later now and I am glad that my sister grew out of it and matured, but her past of the gangster mentally still get resurrected here and there. she always thinks that with violence or profanity she can express herself ,but only it does harm to her. She still can't understand why I still like this white music as she calls it all these years later.
About what you said about Pink Floyd yeah my daughter likes Another break in the wall and believe or not she likes Pink Floyd' Barrett song like Bike and Arnold Layne. She says that those tunes are very funny! I think she likes the childlike kind of songs that Barrett made.
you know what's funny also believe or not I didn't think DT was a good thing until I heard Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory I liked some songs from Awaken, but when I saw Scene on DVD I was amazed. Now DT and PT are my favorite of today's Prog . PT because they sounds so much like PF. DT mmm Not many to choose!Thank you brother from Brazil! hasta luego amigo!

Thank you Tengent. Look hard ! there 2 of the albums are included. Even though I really like Egg's albums and I think those 3 albums are key albums of the whole Canterbury scene their albums covers weren't that expectacular (like Soft machine or Caravan) or interesting with the exception of The Polite Force their best album cover in my opinion. they are there!! let me know if you find them.
Also with great pleasure I am announcing that Dave Stewart likes the collages these are his words: here are the messages I received from The Great Dave Stewart :
Dave: Hi Abel I like your Canterbury collage, very psychedelic! Best wishes, Dave Stewart (keyboardist) Abel ( Darksideof) Dave Stewart? The real Dave Stewart? from Hatfield and Egg?WOW!! if it is you and I hope it is. What a great honor and pleasure is to read this message from you sir. I had adored you albums you played in for years your albums with Bruford and your bands have been part of my life since I was 13 years old. With great pleasure and honor I created this collage prof of the deep love I have to all these bands and their respective albums and I am more than super excited to heard from you. Thank you again! Dave: Hi Abel, >Dave Stewart? The real Dave Stewart? from Hatfield and Egg? Yes it's him, I mean me. Thanks for your kind words on my past work and thanks again for making the lovely collage! You heard from Dave Stewart - that's possible. I reviewed a new prog album recently and the lead singer contacted me and thanked me. i was floored! These prog guys do skulk around here though they keep a fairly low profile - occasionally you do hear from them! Must have made an impression here!

I wonder why those guys speak spanish. . . . . Lemme see: 5 countries speak portuguese, totaling 240 million speakers, but 1 country alone holds 85% of the speakers. Over half a billion people speak spanish in most countries in the Americas, and parts of Africa and Asia.
I can speak them both anyway (and if I couldn't the difference is as much as american english and irish english, or not. . . ), so no damage done. So, where are you from anyway, since you came to the US in your teens?
