Hello!
Two former (?) members of progressive groups and both even aren't on PA as solo artists now! Above you have their two releases I love most - which one do you prefer?

Bryan Ferry is mostly great or at least good, Collins debut is so-so, all other albums (inc. Face Value) - almost unlistenable pop.

Bryan Ferry by miles, Boys and Girls is just good artsy pop and a very enjoyable record.
Most of Phil Collins' solo work is terrible. And while Face Value may be his best record as a solo artist, it's still weak in comparison to Bryan Ferry.
Btw, shouldn't this poll be in General Music Discussions? Their solo works aren't prog imo.

I've just noticed that crawling insect in your signature! Genius. For a second I tried to blow that off my screen! ...
Must admist I've not heard the Ferry album, so I wont vote, but I cant imagine it beig worse than any Collins solo effort. I can tolerate Face Value, but beyond that..no thanks!

I think I've most of his solo albums. Three you mention aren't terrible, just too pop for me. No Jacket Required was beyond the pale for me, though.. That was the last one I actually parted with cash for, when it came out. I think I listened to it twice.

I liked Collins' first solo. Even just bought a CD of it recently. It has it's good moments. I've had Ferry's Bete Noire and Taxi for about ten years (got them used). Big Roxy fan, but those two I could do without easily. Have yet to try Boys and Girls or any other solo Ferrys.

I think Face Value is a great album, full of emotion, great playing, and, dare I say it, more than a hint of a little prog

Collin's first is the most creative of his solo albums, as far as I heard them.
Boys and Girls is not from Ferry's most artistic period, though.
So I chose Collins.

Collins. While not prog, I find Face Value to be an incredibly emotional and well-written and executed album. I like Ferry's solo work but Boys and Girls is nothing special imo, whereas Face Value is something special.

Ferry's body of solo work is more impressive. Plus, Gilmour plays on this one, which I think is a standout.
Only two comments above praise anything other than Face Value, the only Collins solo I'll ever own.
