I love them (especially arrival). would be fine if such a pop music is produced nowadays.

Agree, they where not an album band more a single band, some great pop tunes, a best of CD is everyting one need from them. But they are probobly the bigest band ever that come from Sweden, And not U.K. or U.S. like allmost all other famus bands. Thats cool

They were a neat pop group... nothing I'd spend money on though. They're fine, not a group I'd say I LIKE, though.

Last ABBA's drummer was Slim Borgudd, former on psych/prog group Made is Sweden and then driver in Formula 1 with ATS and Tyrrell!

Very underrated group IMO. They made great songs, including an absolute masterpiece in The winner takes it all.

I seem to remember posting about this before. I didn't really think much of Abba at all until a few years ago, when I joined a covers band who played some Abba songs. When I worked my way through the Abba songbook I realised that they were actually very good at crafting pop songs, with lots of clever hooks and sometimes surprisingly complex structures (relatively speaking). I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I genuinely respect the craftsmanship in their work.

Yes. This is the "skeleton in the closet" I referred to in my introduction thread. People tend to think of ABBA as a disco band, but much of their years were spent writing very neat, hook-ie pop songs. A ton of them. Impecable harmony and production were the standard. When I think of song-writing teams, Lennon / McCartney is first, followed by Ulvaeus / Andersson.

Brilliant!

Arguing with anonymous strangers on the internet is a sucker's game because they almost always turn out to be or seem to be self-righteous sixteen-year-olds possessing infinite amounts of free
time.
